There are several Mylotters promote hatred towards a religion. They dont have appropriate knowledge and experience regarding the religion but they made bias judgment and spread them here in MyLot. What irresponsible behavior. This is a time we promote peace and harmony yet these bad people jeopardize every effort. I hate what they were doing and hope Mylotters who share similar concern to stop this group of bad doers!

I'm sorry, but if you are talking about the discussion in which a man believes his wife to be his property and he has the option of punishing her for wrongdoing, I cannot agree with you. I didn't view that discussion as necessarily condemning a religion as much as it was condemning a practice. Women are not property and not their husband's slaves. I will belong to no man and no man has the right to "correct" me or tell me what to do. I am an adult and I live in a free society. I do hope that this is not the practice you are defending.

I am not against the muslim faith. I don't know enough to be against it or for it. I have been told that the Quaran is a peaceful book and I will take that at it's word. However, if the post that you are referring to is the post about wife ownership, I cannot condone this. No woman should be any man's property. I am not even referring to the videos posted. I am referring to a woman being a man's property. Please tell me this is not the way it is. I do want to learn about other faiths. I just want to know that no man thinks of a woman as his property and no woman agrees with it.

Fyi, I didn't look at the videos, but the comments were enough to creep me out completely. "It is just a light beating if the wife is wrong." "do not beat the wife above the waist for this can be harmful." Both of these passages tell me that a woman is a man's property and he has say in how she conduct herself. This is why I posted. My first husband broke my arm because I was out of work and the dinner wasn't ready when he got home. I left his sorry butt. If this is a practice that you condone, I would recommend that women leave their husbands sorry butts, and it has nothing to do with religion. It's about human dignity.

Exactly and I think it's totally out of line. Any attempt to liberate women cannot be wrong.

Well I don't see anything wrong in discussions about religion. I think it is good to discuss, share ideas, and thoughts, and thereby learn about other cultures, and their beliefs. I am not at all religious, but I am always interested to read and learn about what other people think, even if I choose not to believe in things myself. What I don't like at all though is censorship, and in my view, people stopping other MyLot members from speaking their minds, and making their judgements, or talking of religion, is censorship, and I don't like it one bit. This is a free world, and people have a right to say what they like in my opinion.

I agree with you. People need to stop looking at the few people that are vocal and thinking that every person that practices the religion is the same. Saying all Muslims are bad because some extremists are killing in the name of their faith, or some beat their wives is wrong. Some Christian men beat their wives, preform acts of terror, there are some very extreme Christian people that are so off in the land of weird that they convince others to kill themselves. Generalizing a faith on the acts of extremists is like saying all Cubans, or Koreans, or Russians, or Germans, or Africans, or Chinese are bad because you don't like their leader. Just wrong, learn about the people not the few. Try understanding the culture before you condemn the whole on the acts of a very vocal and visible few.

Just wanted to add that all acts of violence against any person or group is wrong. Beating wives, children is wrong. I don't believe that anyone has the right to bring violence upon anyone else. a world of Buddhist would be a world of beauty and peace but it's not ever going to happen. A world that lived life modeled after Buddhist would be the never best thing.

I am with you addy. I try to not hate people, I hate the hatred that they were spreading the thing that they do. If we know little about truth, keep ourself low. We have to learn more, more and until a time we know that still we know a little bit about several things. Yet they read several books or see several videos or several years of study and spread it like they know the whole idea..

I am not religious at all. When I answer or start religious discussions it is not because I hate the religion its because I want to make people think about their beliefs and whether they are realy the right ones for them.

Thanks, yup we are free to discuss about religion, free to asks, free to question. If we write about religion with a good intention it will increase our knowledge and experience, and increase our understanding about other religion. But, if we write because we are prejudice then the writing promote disharmony and tensions among mylotters, that what I am talking about.

I dont like violence either, if I like it I will spread hatred towards bad writers. We are good people here, we just remind each other, if somebody did wrong we can forgive. We made something wrong from time to time. If we hate beating wife, kill people etc , then what we should do is we promote love. We love our children, neighbour, friends, wife or husband, our countries, people of other faith then our life will improve! Whenever good thing rise high the bad thing will banish! thank God, I hope I spread love today!

Just I was reading your discussion I remembered I had responded to a discussion about blind beliefs of some particular religion which I also didn't like. I didn't mean to write against the particular religion, but the practice. Propagating some vicious things about any particular religion is truly a very irresponsible behavior. Be it any religion, it promotes peace and harmony amongst each other, it's sometime the followers who become fanatic.

Thank you very much for all the replies regarding this discussion. I accept all your opinion here with respect. I am not an expert about Islam but Islam tells me to : lead, educate and love my wife. Prophet Muhammad told me my wife's blood, property, and diginity is sacred. Beating my wife is certainly against Islamic teaching. I will post a new discussion and I will link you all to a homepage that could answer our question about 'beating wife in Islam'. If I am not answering your question above then I am sorry, I am just a small guy here. See you in the new discussion!

I am personally a free thinker so I feel I have no right to speak about religion, but I think that every human has the right to choose his own beliefs and to vilify other religions and promoted hatred towards it is just despicable.

I have seen a lot of discussions talking about religion here, and I love talking about it. I am a jew, and a few weeks ago, me and some other members had an arguement with a member that spoke badly on our religion. At first it wasn't so bad, but than that member wrote racist things, and I had to report him. I don't care what people think about other religions, as long it's not racist words.

People who bash on other religions are just ignorant and you shouldn't really take it personally; however, I know it's easier said than done. I don't really agree with the whole organized religion deal. Religion is what/who an individual believes to be the higher power. INDIVIDUAL. That's just what I believe though. Everybody has a religion, even if they don't believe in a higher being, that's what they believe, that's their religion. People should have the right to believe and have faith in whatever they want without having to worry about being judged about it.

These people are as entitled to their opinion as you or I. While they do not agree with our beliefs and try to spread that hatred it is easy to see that they are far out numbered by those of us who do believe and try to put a little somethiung good out in the world

I don't spread hate myself, I just seek facts. However, there are also a lot of people who are quite knowledgeable about religions and do criticize them. That should be just fine. ALL beliefs should be questioned and examined. Peace without reason is just another word for dictatorship or theocracy. I agree there should be peace, but not without questions and examination of beliefs. In fact, I'd say that religion is one of the biggest reasons we don't have peace.

Well I don't hate any religion. But I do hate does that show bad judgement towards other religions. I mean the only reason they hate it is because it's not what they are. If they were it they would be mad when people make fun of their religion.

i'm not a religious person... but in respect to those who are, i sometimes keep bad impressions of those religions to myself. each religion has it's own belief, whether you like it or not, it's what they believe... you can just either tell them, "i'll see you in heaven buddy" or "send my regards to satan. lols ps: posting comments/facts about religion is not hatred. should you call it news? lols

Hello salam, I actually avoid responding to any topics about religion. I'm not a confrontational person and whatever religion I have, I keep it as my own. I did read some of the discussions posted, but I realized it was not doing me any good but giving me more questions. I abhored some members attacking each other's religion. But as always, this is a forum open for everyone. Anybody can state their opinions in whatever words they like to use. Happy posting!

I certainly agree that anyone can state their opinions, but I do NOT agree they can use any words they like. I am thankful that here on myLot we CAN discuss topics, but these should always be conducted in a respectful and courteous way. Words like "hate" should not be used in context with a person. I have enjoyed debates with many with opposite views to mine, but they have been friendly and polite. There have never been personal attacks.
