Hello moochie, welcome to Mylot, our little family, I hope you have a good time in here and make many friends...I know how rewarding palliative must be, in 1995 my father passed away and I was holding him when he actually passed , that did something to me, made me ask questions and for some reason made think what an honour it is to to be with someone when they leave this journey to start a new one, then a few years later my mother passed away but she passed away during the night I was so upset that I couldn't be with her as I was with my dad but that happens, I think some people prefer to pass away on their own. I started volunteering in a Nursine Home and sat with a few people who were dying, I thought if I had my life over I would go into the palliative care, just to sit with the people who had no-one, there definitely is something about being there with people nearing the end of this journey....something very spiritual.

Hi, am from the united states. I've been married 16 years to me he's the most amazing man who is currently in the middle east. We don't have any children but we do have a cat shyly. Your field sounds interesting u just be very compassionaite I think you'd have to be to do that.

I am a Social Worker, but working with refugees in the UK - I could not do your work at all - I know it would upset me too much. Take care, and hope you have fun here on MyLot.

I dont work in palliative care but i do work with people who are receiving palliative care funding, i work in a respite house for people with with disabilities such as autism, ID, Downs, Cerebral Palsy, etc and a few of the clients that come into work are in palliate care. I am like you and enjoy my work very much and wouldnt change it for the world!!

Hi Moochie, welcome and do have fun. I am relatively new as well but have found some wonderful friends, and great discussions, I have worked in senior homes but it was not a pleasant experience , every thing seemed geared for the staff schedule rather than the fact that it is a life time home for the residents, They had little or no say in their daily life it was all according to the staff scheduling. I found it hard to take. I will give you a good example I was a cook breakfast was to 7:30 am snack 10:30 am lunch 12 noon snack 2:30 supper 5PM snack 6:30. then nothing until the next morning, the residents were not allowed food in their rooms as it might cause bugs so they were at the mercy of the schedule, and frequently they were not served what they liked but rather what the dietichian thought was best and cheapest. I hope I never end up in a home, I will not go quietly.

I am retired and worked with disabled people; so I know that you must be an extraordinary person to work with cancer patients. Don't forget to take care of yourself first as your job is emotionally draining.

Still i dont want to bother my family and i dont want them to knw this things. What will be the best thing to do in this situation

no i am not from the same field. i think it is nice of u to introduce yourself but then just keep things safe, dont tell all. i think u are doing a good job and it is very tough too, i would not be able to do anything to do with seeing people suffer, i just cant take it. i hope i am strong enough one day to be able to do some social work and share some sorrows of others..

hi moochie...i have a different style to introduce myself..... If opportunity doesnt knock break the door...... me a miracle..i believe that miracle can happen anytime and anywhere but we dont recognize it... a miracle happened 23 years back....date 6 december sun rose from the east and sets in the west but whats new in that this is how a day goes.... 11'o clock....clock shows the time 11'o clock but whats new in that...this is how a clock runs.... after 1.30 half an hour same clock shows the time 12.30 and ladies and gentlemen a genious born..... the name of the genious was shashank..shashank who shashank??...i dont knw any shashank??.. i was just 16 minutes late from that genious.... sahni..sachin sahni....a person who believes in dreams because it is said by someone,"FUTURE BELONGS TO THOSE WHO BELIVES IN THE BEAUTY OF THERE DREAMS".... an individual whose dream to be like amitabh bachhan,whose dream to have bunglow,mercedees a person who thinks about life and ofcourse about beautiful wife!!!... i'm doing my mba frm the city of gardens,silicon valley,city of pubs....confused its a heaven called bangalore..... my aim in life is to fulfill the dream of my parents and one day or the other i will fulfill that.... enough about me let give chance to others also..... asta lo vesta adios...enjoy...cheers..!!!!....
