I think it depends on whether we are talking about a new car or used car, as there isn't any way I would purchase a new car for my daughter. We bought a car in 2000 and its likely that it will need to be replaced next year. Parents shouldn't put themselves in huge debt purchasing cars that they will still be paying for even though the car is no longer owned by anyone in the family.

My best response to this would be you know your child best. I think we know when our own child is responsible enough to have a car, Some of them simply are not that is bottom line. My own son I would not have he had about 10 bikes stolen because of lack of responsibility not locking them and such. Like I said it depends on them.
