Have you been in a bowling league where your team finished in first place?

Currently my team is tied for first place in the second half of our season with just two weeks to go. If we finish in first we would play the first team from the first half of the season for the title. Has anyone been in a league and had a chance to finish on top or did finish on top? How did that make you feel? Me and my partner during the summer were in first place but then the other teams dropped out of the league so we won nothing. :-( I will be excited if we will win but I know it will be tough the last couple of weeks. It ssems that some people in the league would not be happy if we finished in first since I think some of them feel they ahould always be on top and nobody else.

I have never been a bowling league but have tried to bowl a time or two ..I do better online than in person:) I end up sending the ball the wrong direction when I attempt to hit the pins. lOl I dont think a league would want me on their team unless they needed someone to dust or wash clothes..LOL

That is funny that you send the ball in the wrong direction. LOL I have had some funny moments in bowling as well that are too embarrassing to share. Bowling is fun and we ended up losing two games the other night so we are in second place going into the last week of the season this friday. I will be in Texas and will miss the finale.

How exciting for you, I hope you win. I have only been to a bowling alley once in my life. So no, I have never been on a league. Good luck in yours

It is very exciting and hope that we do win this week and the following week. I just received bowler of the week award from the week before last so I get three free games.

Congrats to you, I hope you make first place. The team I was on always finished at the bottom or close to it. it was fun though and everyone won money. It was a fun league no one took themselves seriously, even the good bowlers.

Thank you for the congratulations and hope we finish in first as well though it will be tough beating the other team. Most of them bowl either in the 200s or close to it. The handicap is what is helping us, especially mine. LOL Even if we do not win, it was nice being in contention.

In twenty years of bowling, my team has finished first one time. It was in dramatic fashion. We had been battling it out with several teams all year. On the final night, we were in a three-way tie for first place. We were on lanes 1 and 2 and the third team was bowling on 3 and 4 with a lower team. At the end of the night, we had tied and were waiting for the results of the other team. All they had to do was win 6 of 8 points and they were the winners. They finished with only 2 points and so we were left with just two teams in first place. No one could agree on a night to have a roll-off so we had to bowl another three games that night. Our league was a later start so it was already near midnight. At 2 a.m., we ended in another tie after 3 more games. We had to have a tenth frame rolloff. Their final bowler needed a spare and good count to beat us. Instead he threw a 7-10 split and we were champions. On my final ball, my hand cramped so badly, I had to pry it open. But the pain was worth the joy.

Lucky you... congrats! I quite like bowling and bowl decently enough. But I haven't entered in any real competition before. Well, the closest was an informal one at my ex-company's monthly gathering. My team was so-so only and I really hate it when everyone's looking at you when you bowl and tried to encourage you (as if it helps). No, actually I had it more when everyone has to cheer the bowler when he bowls. It's not that there's any ill feeling among us but it is just WEIRD.. we would cheer the bowler with template phrases like "way to go! you can do it!", etc.. and everyone rotates to be the bowler. I just don't like the whole thing.

I love bowling very much and have been struggling with my health and trying to get through the last couple of weeks and get through the pain and try and help my team win. It has been fun but do not like the awkward looks from others. The thing I like about this league is every team wins money at the end of the season based on how many wins your team gets. It makes me uncomfortable being watched closely when I am bowling, especially since most people know that I am not a very good bowler. Everybody seemed to be watching last week when I threw five strikes in a row for the first time in my life. LOL
