Hall & Oates - singers

Not just seen them on the street, but actually "knew them when"? I grew up in the Philadelphia neighborhood where Darryl Hall and John Oates - the now infamous pop singers - used to live and hang out. In fact, I dated Darryl's younger brother John. Darryl was a practical joker and always used to pull my ponytails when I had my hair up in the hot inner city summer. I was 15 and thought he was a creep! This was 4 years before their first hit, "She's Gone" was charted.

My best friend's husband went to school with Sarah Jessica Parker. She grew up in a town about 20 minutes from me. Its really not a big deal though. I don't know if any of her family still lives around here or not. Some people are like "Wow! That is so cool that you have been to her hometown!" Honestly, if you was to go to Nelsonville, OH I doubt any of you would be too impressed lol. They have a pretty awesome college and really nice store that sells boots and stuff, but its nothing extravagant...OH and they have an amazing restraunt called The Coffee Cup...but its just another town I pass through once in a while. Just because someone is famous doesn't make it all a big deal, they are regular, normal people like me and you...they just get bothered more when walking down the street.

That is so cool. No I did not go to school with anyone famous but to me fame is not that important. I would not trade the friendships that I had with the people that I did go to school with for all the fame in the world.

Paul Lambert (#10) in action for Scotland for whom - Paul Lambert (#10) in action for Scotland for whom he was captain
He may not be recognizable to most here but I went to school and played on the school soccer team with Paul Lambert who went on to have a very successful career with Borussia Dortmund, Celtic and Scotland.

I went to school with a girl that went on to act in a B rated movie. I don't think it ever became really popular, but you probably could find info on it if I could remember the movie name!

Actually, I do know someone famous. I was born in Kentucky and I lived in the same town as George Clooney until I was 8 years old. He used to play tennis with one of my sisters. He is a really nice guy and he's funny too.

LOL, no but I went to a very small country setting grade school in the heart of Illinois. Years before I was even born, one of the members of REO Speedwagon (The drummer, I think.) attended my little school! I think that is pretty cool :)

That's cool! I know the person who does the voice for Ash in the new Pokemon series. She's done gigs with KISS, and I think Barbara Streisand. That's pretty cool in my opinion. I'm also currently attending New York University, and I know a whole bunch of famous people went there though I can't think of any right now. The Olsen sisters go there (do they still?) and one of my friends had a class with one of them. We were also visited by Hanson (who no one remembers! I used to obsess over them). Honestly though it makes no difference to me who someone is, or how famous they are. It IS kind of cool to think that those nerds we knew in school are now famous people.

LOL! I remember Hanson. I lived in SE Kansas at the time and did a lot of shopping in Tuksa, OK, where they lived near. They would come into the Washington Mall most weekends and play. Of course this was a year before the "Bop" song that got them famous. I have an autograph pucture somewhere of the boys, if I find it, I'll let you know.

Cool, you knew the foremost proponents of Philly's 'blue-eyed soul.' They were good, back in the day. A guy at my high school ended up playing in the NBA for the Chicago Bulls, back in the pre-Jordan days. He was 6 foot 11 as a sophomore in h.s. A fellow who I worked with at my college newspaper is now a senior editor for Premiere, a movie magazine. Maybe the most successful one I knew was a guy in high school, David Remnick, who has been editor of The New Yorker Magazine for years and is the author of several books.

Not exactly gone to school or work with someone, but I live only a few streets away from where Ozzy Osborne used to live in Birmingham.

That is so cool, I have never even been close to some one famous unless I have seen them on stage. Some times I see local news casters. But big deal!!!!

That's very funny. I went to the same high school as John Oates....North Penn. They did a concert at our school when I was in 10th grade. My neighbor's sister dated him, too.....

I went to school with and graduated with a well known baseball player. As far as I know none of the others have become famous, but at least a couple are well renowned in their field. my cousin used to deliver pizza to Mickey Rooney and has seen Michael J Fox shopping at the grocery.

Hmm... I did grow with a very famous personality and that is "ME" :) Jokes apart as it has been hardly 6 years since we all passed through, I think it will take more time for some of us to get really famous to feel proud of just yet. I do think a lot of them are potential greats and wish them all the luck in the world. Cheers! Ram

I went to high school with Jaycie Phelps and was actually in one of her classes with her. For those of you that don't know, Jaycie Phelps was a gymnast with the 1996 US Olympic Team that won gold. Heck, they even named the main entrance a street after her. Besides her I don't know anyone famous. I went to a college where tons of famous people graduated from, but nobody while I was there (well, they aren't famous yet)

I went to school with Regina King, 4th grade. Then she left that school. I did not see her again until summer school in 10th grade by then she was on 227.
