Does your child have, or did they have a security blanket when they were growing up? My oldest still has his pillow. My mom actually made it for me when I was 6 and I'm 34 now. lol We call it Frankenpillow since it's been stitched back together so many times. He still won't give it up. He's 8 and is Autistic. He isn't as dependant on it as he used to be (it had to go EVERYWHERE with him) but when he is really tired or when he gets hurt he wants his pillow. Our youngest has a couple of pillows and blankets that he likes, so he hasn't attached himself to any one item yet. If your child has one, what is it, when you plan on breaking them from it and how? Or do you figure they will on their own?

my niece has two blankets she never lets go. even if we are to stay in another house, she will have to bring that blanket of hers and will not sleep if she will not see that blanket. she calls this blanket her baby and will always ask for it.

I don't have any kids yet, but I have a little bit of a security blanket that I have myself. I didn't even have this blanket when I was younger, but now I cannot sleep unless I am under my great grandmother's quilt that is over 100 years old and falling to pieces.

Both of my children (ages 5 and 2 1/2) have a special blanket that they cannot sleep without. They only have it when they go to bed though. They never take it with when we leave the house.

My middle child who is 6 still sleeps with & carries around a stuffed cow. My 34 year old husband still sleeps with his baby blanket EVERY night, no matter where he is. It is under his head on the pillow.

My youngest has a pink blankie, it's very soft on one side and on the other it's satin along with a sating edging. She loves it especially when she tired. She won't go to sleep without it. She likes to take one of the corners and gently rub it on the tip of her nose. She especially likes it right after it comes out of the dryer smelling all fresh and clean.

mine used to have one when he was little and never went anywhere without it. now he is 15 and has a blanket that he sleeps with. guess that is why they call them security blankets. if i take the blanket away he will grab another, so i said why bother. we all have some kind of nitch.
