I mean, we have 5 kids!!! Can you imagine our grocery bill??? I mean, I have got to figure out a way to save on groceries!!! It's killing us...I think if it wasn't for the grocery bill, we'd be able to do more stuff, but we can't cause we're always broke after the trip to the store! I feel bad, cause I try to get snack stuff for the kids...but it's so hard! Especially when the kids wanna eat 2nds and 3rds all the time! I feel like I have to control how much they eat, just to save the food!!! Is that wrong?? How do you save on groceries?

You know, I don't mind having 5 kids because I know when they eat together, they have fun and they will eat what you had prepared for them. I have a daughter and she is 2 1/2. Very picky eater that I would buy everything that she feels like eating. In a meal, I think I have to ask and prepare at least 3 different kinds of food and let her choose what she wants. I wasted so much food just for her to eat. On saving groceries, use coupons and check what is on sale. Usually the store brand is a whole lot cheaper that other brands and more or less same quality. If your kids love vegetables, you can make them soup all the time. Chicken noodle soup or turkey soup will be good. If they love pasta, make spaghetti noodles then put butter and salt to season then top it with some grilled chicken bits. That meal is delicious and pasta are cheap. For snacks, buy plenty of jell-o or pudding mix and let them help you with it. Snacks may not always junk but if you buy lots of apples and bananas...those are healthier and cheap alternatives than potato chips. If they like chocolates, visit the dollat store because the chocolates are cheaper especially after an occasion. Now I guess the chocolates from Valentines day, they are quite cheap.

5 kids? woah. i can imagine the grocery bill. every kid just throws what he wants in the grocery cart. i don't think there is something wrong with controlling their eating habits. you need to control their eating, not to save on food but because you want them to be healthy. if you do it this way, before you know it, you'll be saving a lot. you have to remember, though, that these are kids. they have the right to have fun and be able to eat chocolates or sweets, as long as it's in moderation.

Yea, they don't get sweets very often...but I allow it sometimes! I feel bad, but at the same time, I don't want my kids to crave chocolate and other sweets all the time. I want them to know that are many other ways to enjoy food with all the sugar. lol. But yes, you are right, they should enjoy it sometimes.
