Looking back through all the books I have read in my life... The Narnia series was very influential on my early imagination, as was Tolkien's books. During my freshman year of high school I read Orwell's 1984 for the first time, which lead me into a string of books and authors that attempted to analyze and understand the early 20th century world while warning for the future - Fahrenheit 411, A Brave New World, etc. Anything by Herman Hesse and Victor Hugo began to draw my attention in late high school, which then led me down the path of Voltaire and Sartre. All this while reading heavy dosages of history books on revolutions and revolutionaries. This grew into a later (and current) interest in imperialism and colonialism, as well as the people who are in power or at the bottom of society. While I enjoy non-fiction about almost any subject, books I choose usually fall within either a historical or cultural frame. So to answer the question, the same book I posted on a thread on favorite non-fictions books: How Mumbo Jumbo Conquered The World by Francis Wheen.

my favorite book is probably east of eden by steinbeck. great characters, great story, i've read it twice. the fountainhead by ayn rand is also a great book with great characters. her writing made my rethink a lot of my positions regarding social welfare. atlas shrugged by rand is also great, i've read them both twice.

one of my all time favorite is the " Purpose driven life" by Rick Warren. I am currently re-reading it again for the 3rd time. It helps me realized my purpose here on earth and lot's of lesson to learn from the book. It keeps me on track, plus of course my best favorite-the Bible. my book of life.

These two are my favorites: 1. Tuesdays with Morrie (by Mitch Albom) - this book made me realize the value of life. We don't need to know we're dying just to live a fruitful life. 2. The Alchemist (by Paulo Coelho) - life is a journey. =)

My favourite book would have to be The Conquest, by Jude Deveraux. It's a typical romantic novel, set in the early 1700's. I love it because it's written as a true account of what times were like in those days, even though it is a fictional story. The characters are very well written, and the plot is wonderful, with twists and turns all the way through it. It has parts that make you laugh, and others that make you cry. It truly is a wonderful story.

"The 33 Strategies of War" by Robert Greene. Helps me a lot in the workplace. Makes me realize that, war is'nt just fought on the battlefield but in life as well. And the book just outlined how conflicts are waged and resolved on the individual level. Purchased a month ago and i've been reading and re-reading it ever since.
