Once again our gas prices are taking a hike up. Recent news state that it isn't because we have a shortage it is because there is going to be some minor construction to couple of the plants so in turn we get punished cause the government panicks that it may be down for more than an hour..There has got to be a happy medium here somewhere so we all don't suffer...In fact on the news it even said that the oil prices are down yet our gas prices are rising..Is there ever going to be a happy settling point in all the price hopping?

I guess we have to be happy that our gas prices are not the same as in other countries. I also have noticed a pattern. You may have too, once it is mentioned. It is going on Spring. More people travel. Let's raise the gas price and continue until everyone has had vacation in the summer. Then at the end of the summer, let's drop them some, let's give the people some hope. Uh-Oh, here comes Thanksgiving, people are going to grandma's house, lets jack those prices up again until after Christmas, and then in January, when everyone is broke and staying home, we will lower them again. Oh wait, here comes spring again, raise those prices, no one will notice a pattern. It will never end. The gas prices, on average, are about the same as they were last year at this time. Do you realize that we pay more for bottled water than we do for gas. On average, we spend about a dollar on a 20oz. bottle of Disani, now fill up a gallon jug and think about how much it would cost. Look at a bottle of steak sauce, think about how much it would take to fill a gallon jug, now think of the price. If you think about it that way, it is not so bad. Trust me, it could be a lot worse.

Oh it happens around here as well. Especially this time of year because Snowbirds are going home, people who live in Florida during the winter and go back north for the summer. Our prices always rise this time of year and in the fall when they are coming back. If it's a holiday they jump it, if a big event is going on they will raise it and so on. It's very predictable.

All sensible people who want to lower gas prices and put the pressure on for change should write or send emails to their representatives urging for E85 and flex fuel cars. Brazil did it and so can't we. There is power in numbers and I wrote my congressmen, governor and representatives asking why we don't have more flex cars and pumps. We, the people, can make a difference! Wouldn't you rather put your hard earned dollars in a US corn farmer's pocket than some foreign oil company?

So very true...Unless we as a people do something on our own to have changes made, or, go back to the horse'n'buggy days, nothing will change; it will just continue to get worse and more frustrating.

I think prices will move up and down for any number of reasons. I don't think the government has much to do with setting prices other than all the taxes they add on. The only way to get around this is to increase income so that prices rises won't have an effect or to cut back on usage for he same purpose.

That's bull on the reason why gas prices increase. I don't know if you watch like National Geographic Channel or seen the commercial where the guy is holding a sugar plant that can be used to fuel your car and even give energy to your home. I watched a show where one country has coverted the vehicles to run on pure ethanol and ethanol is purely sugar cane that can be grown in your backyard.

i have been watching the stock market for a few years now, and i am learning that the shareholders of these oil companies are the only happy people these days. the heating season is over, therefore, they sock it to us for the summer travel months. its ridiculous. they know we cant afford to heat our homes and boost the economy in retail during the winter, so they wait, and give it to us later. its so pathetic. if everyone in america stopped for one day at the gas stations, we would have enough gasoline supply for a year. this is indeed a fact. but when we don't buy it, they cut their supply,, so they get us either way.. no shortage, just short minds.

Probably NEVER. I was like I thought they were going down down... now they keep climbing. Between last night & today they jumped at least $.07 according to my sister. Thats a lot! My sister was sorry she lost out on $.90 because she bought today not yesterday. In the OC area where I used to live, yeah we went to Disneyland two weeks back. We saw prices jump about $.05 THAT SAME DAY! Ouch! Yeah it sucks gas prices. They are now up to $3.05 around here. I recall when they used to be $1.50 or a bit more... *sigh*

Here in Vancouver we're currently paying (as of last night) $1.08 per litre! Out East in Toronto, they're paying 85 cents per litre. Can you say Ouch yet? Our prices have been up and down like a seesaw for the last two years, and there hasn't really been a time when they actually settled, apart from one all too brief spell just recently when we actually dropped as low as 97 cents for all of four or five days. I don't know if there'll ever be a happy settling point anymore. I remember when gas prices were stable, and it seems forever ago. If they were stable once, we can get them stabilized again surely?

I know gas prices are killing me. I used to run a landscaping business and I had considered doing so again but have decided against it because of fuel prices. Further I have some friends that still do and they have lost business because they had to raise their prices to make up for the fuel costs. I think as well that there is in part the effort to drive us toward more fuel efficient vehicles. I dont know about others but I dont think that I am getting the mileage that I used to either. I realize that this does have alot to do with the condition of my vehicle but I have a 4 cyl. and have recently tuned it up and I still am not getting the mileage that I think I should. Consider also that the market has alot to do with it as well

Back before the Nov. elections Pres. GW stopped buying fuel for the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and that made the price drop, but a few weeks ago he(GW) decided to double up on the purchases in order to resupply and with that the price at the pump has jumped. The "official" story is that the companies need to switch over to the "special" summer blend of gasoline. I don't know about where you live but here gas jumps no less than 10 cent a gallon at a time and then "they" drop it back 2 cent a gallon like that is really going to matter.

Actually the prices of oil and gas grow up to easy and they don't go down, it's a bad thing for the consumers but very good for a little group of people... like usually...

I live in Western Australi and we are currently paying $1.20 a litre. As well as the typical increases on holiday I also notice if there is going to a public holiday it goes up. Only Queensland has cheaper petrol due to lower government tax. The only relief is spending over $30 at certain grocery stores give you a voucher to save 4c off a litre. Not a lot but better than nothing. This is as long as you don't go to a petrol station that charges you to use a credit card!

Gas prices go up and down. Any reason they can find to raise it they will. It had lowered a few weeks ago but I'm sure that was so when prices went back up we wouldn't notice as much as it went higher then it was before. It's the oil and gas companies to blame. They have us over a barrell. They know we have to pay if we want to use the gas. They don't care if their profits soar because of it. In fact they love it and get some very huge bonuses because of it I'm sure.

I wish I could only pay $2.55 per gallon of fuel, over here, prices are triple that! we pay about 89p per Liter.

gas around here is 2.69 but i heard its the lowest in New Jersey. But i dont think gas will ever get under 2.00 ever ever again not even if the government tried to help the cause. (which they wont) I remember back in the good ol days when gas was 1.25 and it was all so easy no one had worries and your income wasn't deducted by 50% due to taxes. But now is a different time and we have changed. It is sad but its true nothing will change.
