Hello everyone, Im just wondering what is your opinion of people on mylot who cannot write/speak english well and are hard to understand when they talk.. i mean write. Do you think that they should even be here first of all or what? Mine, simple, it doesn't really matter if they can't really write or speak it properly, i love to read their discussions and posts as it might even be interesting. IT is also a great way for them to practice their english! So there are so many positives from them being here. As well as the part as their own opinions. Every one has their own right to speak willingly. (freedom of speech right?) Your opinions are welcomed - All posts are rated (as usual)

I definitely think everyone has a right to participate on myLot as long as their conversations are not vulgar and full of hate. If you are learning a new language, this is a great place to practice and put into use the things you are learning. Probably a lot of us who speak English as our native language need to work on our presentations, too. I hate to see someone trying to act cool by using abbreviations such as, "U go moovee 2nite?" It doesn't look a bit cool to me, and, if I notice that kind of stuff in their headline, I don't bother to read their discussion at all.

I enjoy reading everyones pposts and think that everyone is entitled to be here even if they do not speak very good english. We are a very diverse country and have many different accents so if we are to limet this site to those that speak or write in a proper way every one will be the loser.

I think the site should be open to everyone. Even if they can't communicate that well everyone has an opinion and it is great to hear them.

Of course anyone and everyone should feel free to write on this and any other similar site. If it helps them to improve their written English as well as them adding value to the site with their opinions and discussions of course they are a valuable addition to the site. The thing that most annoys me about sites like these are the people who speak English as a first language and don't even bother to construct sentences properly. I wonder at the level of education in our schools these days when even teachers have poor spelling and grammar, so no wonder people are leaving school and writing poor English. Those of us for whom English is a first language are often put to shame by those for whom English is their second or even third language and they can often speak and write English more clearly than us.

It is funny to hear that people all the way in korea, who do not even speak english as a first language, may have better skills in the english language then americans do. Most of them by the age of 10 may already be writing at a skill level of grade 10! It amazes me to hear such things!

LOL you're so right, I've worked with really senior people who don't know the difference between a) their, there and they're b) weather and whether c) your and you're "Do you know weather Bob is coming to tomorrow's meeting", "Do you know that your going to be late with that report?" and "What time is they're flight due?" are just examples of what people who speak English as a first language write. I even got a written reference from a Director at a previous company which was 2 paragraphs long and have over 15 spelling mistakes in it. I have never given it to any employer as I was so embarrassed about her level of literacy they might think that an 8 year old had written it!
