Do you buy or refill your printer ink toner/cartridge?

I know printer's ink/cartridge is expensive...it also depends on the brand. I have an HP preinter and I bought the ink months ago from the HP website. It's still printing good eventhough I have printed plenty of pages already. I tried to refill an ink before because it's a little cheaper. However, the outcome is not as good as the new one. Also the refilled ones doesn't last that long. The ink refill station that I used to went only have 2 locations and they're both pretty far from where I live. I guess from my experience, I'd rather buy a new ink than having the old one refilled. The new one is worthy even if its more expensive. Besides...driving to that location consume gas compared ordering online.

I refill the cartridges myself. It isn't hard. I have saved alot of money by buying the ink on ebay in a large bottle for the black cartridge. I haven't noticed any quality changes. For the color ink I just buy a new cartridge. It is a pain in the rear to refill the color cartridge for my printer. I save enough just refilling the black one so that paying for the color cartridge doesn't make me feel that bad.

I used to have a Lexmark printer and I tried to inject an ink on the cartridge but it's not working at all. Maybe it doesn't work on all printers. But I looked on my Lexmark on the ink manual...and it's listed there. I don't know! It just doesn't work for me...lucky you! Thanks!

I always purchase ready filled cartridges for my printer, although I do use compatable cartridges rather than pay the extortionate prices for branded inks. The idea of refilling the cartridges has never appealed to me, and I have this picture in my mind of ink all over the place if I try it. The cost of compatable cartridges makes it quite cheap to run my printer, so there is really no need for me to use anything else.

I don't know what's the compatible cartridge of my printer. How can you check on that?

I think what he means is buying a Staples brand one for example instead of an HP brand one :) These ones are usually quite good, and are a lot cheaper!

You can refill your own. Its not all that hard to do and refill ink is available all over the place. Its very cheap to do and isn't messy if you take your time and do next to or in a sink. You can get this in a kit or just the ink. I've been doing this for several years and have had very good results. I only refill a cartridge about 3 to 5 times and then get a new one and start over. I'm not sure how many times you can refill but my results seem to be about every 4 or 5 and then its time to change to a new one. To key factors are to only refill with proper ink and always use a measure amount recommended for each fill port. Send me the HP cartridge number you are using and I'll send you the ports and amount you need to add in each one.

I have tried to refill an all in one printer at work. We use it more often on fax. I find it very easy but I don't like to keep on injecting ink in it...it doesnt last very long!

I'm using canon printer... That's why, before buying new printer... you should consider the cost for ink cartridge... For canon, the cost for cartridge ink quite lowest if compare with other manufacturer... Of course, there is an option with refill ink... i had used it before... Do you ever try the ink for pen into your printer cartridge? I had try it... Guess what... It's more cheeper... and water proof too... :-) It's best for your black and white printing.

I refill the cartridge because I only use for home and school work so I think that is not necessary to buy a expensive cartridge

I would refill my ink cartridge right now if my printer would work with my Windows Vista. I hate Windows Vista. I have no printer and no wireless internet with Vista.

Normally I buy a new one and recycle my old one. The last time I bought a refill kit to refill mine, but I couldn't get it to work. My printer shows that there is a new, full cartrage in the machine but it won't print with it. So I guess I'll stick with new ones.

I only buy original ink cartridges made for my printer. I have had no luck with the refilled ones at all. Generally they clog faster and don't last as long. They say they are just as high quality as the original but I find that not true. Not to mention if you do the refill yourself it's never a clean process.

I always buy a new cartridge. My friend has told me refilling an ink can make damages to the printer. So that it can become more expensive with refilling, because you may need to buy a new printer. I have an EPSON printer. EPSON cartridges are often said to be most economical, but the ink is soon over.

I order the manufacturer's refill, however, the thing that annoys me is that replacement colour and black cartridges costs more than I paid for the NEW printer in the first place! I know of people who actually throw the printer away and buy a new one, even though it's not broken, just because of that reason... seems so terrible and wasteful to me.

sometimes i buy a new one sometimes i refill it. Its really just if i feel like it or not. A new one is pretty expensive but either way i still do it. I can afford it so i just do it. They last pretty long though.

When if Ink cartridge runs out I always went to a trusted ink refilling station. Ofcourse you have to makesure that the ink is compatible with your empty cartridge and before i put it on my printer, I wipe the bronze like foil with a tissue or cloth and then i'll do the test print..But take note that it you need to buy a new one after the third time you reused your ink cartridge.. Or it might damage your entire printer.

We don't have an option to refill cartridges here so we have to buy a new one. And better than buying a new cartridge is buying a new printer because cartridges are so freaking expensive. The cartridge on our printer was exhausted and we were overwhelmed at the cost of a new one..almost $150..so we went out and bought a new printer for $30 hehe!

I always order our ink online. I found a site that sells their printer ink really cheap. They use compatible products and they work just fine. We have 2 printers, an Epson and a Lexmark. The Lexmark ink is very expensive if I buy it in stores. Getting it online I save a lot of money.

I usually refill my cartridge, but just recently I had problems. I have one of those all in one hp printers designed for those who only write a greeting card or a note once in a while. Either the girl did not fill my cartridge up to the fullest or she gave me back the almost empty cartridge. I printed out one song sheet and it ran out of ink. I think the next printer I get will be a laser color printer. It will be a bit more expensive but at least I do not have to shell out $40 or$9 every week.

I use the refills. It's so much cheaper. I mean, with the refill kits, I can refill my cartridges about 4 times. So to me, that is like buying 1 and getting 3 free. I don't like refilling them because it can be messy, but its so much cheaper. Ink is expensive now days.

I have a lexmark printer that I use to make flyers and catalogs for my business. I use a lot if ink, so I bought the ink filling kit. It was awful. The lids on the color cartridges are so hard to get off and you have to use tape to keep them on after filling. The ink itself is messy when drying the cartridge. My fingers became very colorful as I had ink all over them. Now, I shop around for the best cartridge prices and buy them new. I also have an HP printer.I took my old cartridges to a professional to have them refilled once. It was about $10.00 cheaper per cartridge, but as you said, they do not last as long.
