many times only one was kinda scary also have hitchhiked many many times mostly people are ok a friend of mine got robbed hitching and was stripped naked and kicked out of the car though another one had a guy pull knife on her, she grabbed it out of his hand and made him drive her like 1300 miles, exactly where she was going

if i drove, i would absolutely pick up hitchhikers. but as with anything you have to be smart about it. obviously don't pick up people if you have a bad feeling about it, and carry pepper spray or a knife within reach in your car. most hitchhikers are just looking for a ride, looking for some conversation, looking to get somewhere. just as with any group of people you will have the bad ones; the violent ones, the ungreatful ones, etc, but most people who hitchhike are completely harmless and extremely greatful to those people who will give them rides, since so many people are paranoid about it these days.

i never would,as awful as that may sound. a friend of mine was almost strangled by somebody she gave a ride to.it just is too dangerous. tho i would offer to call police or somebody for them,if they wished.
