Do you think black cats bring bad luck?

There are a lot of superstitions regarding black cats. Since I am always one to defy superstition, I have not only one but two black cats LOL Haven't noticed any extra bad luck, but then again I have been on a bad luck circle for quite a few years now.. maybe it's because of breaking all those superstition rules hehe
ANyway black cats - do you believe they bring bad luck or not?

I don't believe black cats bring bad luck any more than any other creature can bring bad luck. Cats were sacred to the Ancient Egyptians, and revered as lucky:-)

absolutely not! black cats are sacred to the egyptian goddess Bast. i believe this superstition came about when the pagans were to be converted to christianity (of course thats just my theory on where it came from). ive owned a few black cats so far and i can honestly say if anything they were good luck!

No a cat is a cat whatever colour it is. I don't believe that the colour of any cat can bring bad or good luck. Personally I love the shiny coats of black cats and their eyes shining at night.

Thanks, I think fluffy is adorable too :)
I also like cats that are only one color. My daughter choose fluffy because she loved her at first sight. It is so funny to see Fluffy and bailey , they look like twins and when they're sleeping one beside the other we don't even know when one ends and the other one starts lol

I don't believe that black cats bring bad luck, although my Max has had a stretch of bad luck himself, at 6 months old he dislocated one of his rear vertebrae and couldn't walk. And then recently he got into a fight with another cat and lost half his tongue.
He recovered from both of those incidents so fingers crossed his bad luck has passed!

i don't believe in such superstitions. hehe.
i do have a black cat for years now. he's just a stray cat and i felt sad for him so, we took him in our house, fed him and took care of him until now. we even named him Lucky. hehe.
i don't think it's reasonable for us to blame black cats for bad luck which are happening in our lives. we are the ones running our lives... not the cats. so, we are responsible for everything that comes along our ways.

I do not believe they bring you any luck.I think they bring you great theraputic valies.I guess I do not believe much in superstitions and don't think I ever will(Knock on wood).

I have always been told if a black Cat crosses you from the Right it is bad luck but if it crosses you from the Left then it is suppose to be good luck. I have never really taken much Notice of it lol, then again I have not had many black Cats crossing me.

is that so? if crossing from the right, it's bad luck but if crossing from the left, it's good luck. whew! superstitious beliefs. hehe. i can't see the connection. but well, thanks for the tip. i think i will force my black cat to cross always from the left then. hehe.

I do not believe that black cats bring bad luck. I do believe that cats bring naps. If you do not understand what I mean, let the cats in the house, then sit in a recliner, and just wait. Soon you will be covered by a cat or two, and relaxing beautifully to sleep. I make my own bad luck.LOL

Nah, I don't believe that! I grew up with the most wonderful solid black cat (name was Kizzy). I didn't have any more bad luck than the next person. She has since passed away. I looked for a solid black cat when we got our current cat but there were none. We adopted our cat from the local shelter. He is a wonderful grey tabby.

People like that you can tell them, with a very straight face "No, actually their positive and negative polarization, since there are two of them, cancel each other out." Or some other scientific sounding made up stuff.

All cats of all colors are wonderful and that's the conclusion we reach here in mylot:)
What made me start this discussion was the fact that just last weeks I had someone asking me how come I had not only one black cat but two... didn't I know they brought bad lucK? LOL I think what can bring me bad luck is friends like that hehehehe

I've heard a lot of superstitions about black cats, some people use to be scared even by having a black cat crossing their path.
We'll I love my cats and I choose black because I like it, and I don't see them bringing me any bad luck :)
I'ts interesting to know that there are also good superstitions about black cats:)

I don't think black cats bring bad luck, but some of my friends think its bad luck to cross a black cats path. Some superstitions are hard to believe, but if somebody wishes to avoid black cats that is fine with me. I think the picture of your cat is beautiful and I'm sure they are a great joy in your home.

Oc course they aren't bad luck,lol. I used to have two of the sweeties. I don't listen to that stuff.I love cats no matter what color they are

No, I believe black cats *do not* bring bad luck. I've had a black cats and she was like all the others I had...sweet and loving. I never had bad luck with my black cat. That's just a bunch of bull someone fabricated, and probably because they didn't like cats in the first place!
