What does the star on the top of the USER name? I have no stars before (before 9) but I have 9 now. Why? Others have 10 stars. Would it go down? What's the reason? What is the maximum stars the USER would get?

That star and the number is your mylot reputation and it is formed when different people rate the quality of your discussions. You did not have it earlier as one gets it only after completing 100 responses, so you got it now and a 9 with the number of your discussions(which is very less) is Excellent and rare.

Thank you for your response. I would make an effort now to recognize all the efforts and quality responses of those who posted a response to my discussions. I don't know that before. :)

The star rating shows our quality of postings, responding, comments etc here on the others topic. It is given after completion of 100 postings only. You are at 9, seems you are a quality responders. Its range is from 1 to 10 where 1 is low and 10 heighest. It also increases and decreases depending upon your quality of response.

Hi there.. Stars usually denote the user's reputation here at mylot which shows how active u r at mylot and how's the quality of the content that u post.. It also depends on the no. of responses u get for the discussions u start.. The maximum rating is 10...
