How many times have you watched the Wizard of Oz movie?

I mean the MGM movie starring Judy Garland. I watched it every year when I was growing up, then as an adult I still watched it every year, then when videos came out, I got the VHS video as a birthday present one year. Then a few years ago, I joined a DVD club and picked The Wizard of Oz as one of my DVD choices so, how many times have I watched the movie? I don't know the exact number but it has to be [at the very least] 35 times. That's my conservative guess-timate because I think I've watched it more than that. What about you?

I honestly am not sure how many times I have watched the movie "The Wizard Of Oz." Quite honestly I have watched it so many times that I have begun to lost all account. I feel I have watched it so many times because.. I grew up watching this film & it brings back a lot of childhood memories watching it to this very day.. I know they run it here occasionally & I will just sit down with a bag of popcorn & watch it from start to finish. I just love watching it as it makes me feel like I want to be Dorothy all over again. I just loved the red glass slippers she wore throughout the movie. I remember so many times when she would tap her shoes together & would say "There's no place like home.." As a kid I used to stand up in the middle of the living room & would do the same thing.. I also remember I used to go run outside with my puppy that I had at the time.. And she'd run along side of me.. And I'd start skipping down the gravel road singing "Travel the yellow brick road.." haha.. It sounds so strange but at the time I really loved doing this. I also love looking back at this memory.. As it makes me smile each time I remember it.. In conclusion.. I feel I have watched this movie quite a few times.. All to many times to remember the exact number or times I may have watched it. All I know is I just love watching this film as it helps me to revisit my childhood all over again. I love this movie as I find it always takes me back to the time when I had always wished I was Dorothy. Still to this very day I'd love to get myself some red glass slippers like she had. haha. I still to this very day would someday like to own the movie as well. Though I love when they show it on television all the time.. As it is something for me to look forward to watching.. Thanks for helping me revisit my childhood all over again by talking about this movie that I just adore still to this very day! . . Thanks for allowing me to share! xx

I love the Wizard of Oz. My dad used to read us the books when I was a kid. I have - in some box out in the shed - a complete collection of the books. I have the VHS tape, I even wrote a little Oz story once. I'd love to go to Oz, but I'd have to take some cats with me, because the glass cat (from the books) is just too cold for me (that's a joke son.)

Will you take me with you...and my 5 cats? :giggle: How did you like the movie compared to the books? Did the differences (i.e. ruby slippers instead of silver slippers) bother you?

Well I had to sit and think on this. Growing up it was on once a year and I watched it then. That went on for at least 20 years so that was 20 times I saw it. Then when I was in my mid-twenties cable started showing it more often and I'd watch it. Then I got in on VHS and DVD. So I'd say probably I've seen it at least a 100 times if not more. Just one of those movies that when it's on I'll watch it.

I hear you, if it is on TV, I do still watch it again. I know I've seen it way more times that what I listed here but I was trying to be conservative in my guess-timate. I almost can't get enough of the movie either. Everyone knows when I've been watching it too because I use movie quotes from it. My grandsons don't love the movie like I do which makes me sad but maybe I will be able to convince them it's the greatest someday!

Oh I think I beat you. My best guess is arounf 65 times. I loved that movie and so did my mom. We would watch it together quite often and she would try to sing along with the songs (she was tonedeaf!). She's gone now and everytime it comes on TV I feel a little sad.

I'm sorry it makes you feel a little sad because it is a beautiful memory that you can cherish forever. I don't have beautiful memories of my mother, or let me re-phrase that, I only have a couple of small memories of my mother that are worth remembering and nothing as beautiful as your memory. I feel a tiny bit envious of your memory though I am very sorry for your loss.

Once all the way through and in bits and pieces while passing through the room when somebody else is watching it. I guess you can tell, I'm not much of an OZ fan. My movie is ET, I just love it and I've watched it about ten times which is incredible since I rarely watch a movie twice. I make everybody watch ET on Thanksgiving after dinner. It's our family tradition. (I believe some of my friends do that with OZ)

ET is a fantastic film too. I saw it twice at the cinema when it first came out, I was a teenager and I cried both times! I still think it is a great film and own it on DVD.

The "Wizard of Oz" and "The March of the Wooden Soldiers" are two movies that I still watch every time they come on TV. What great movies they are and the magic touches the little boy deep within and brings me back many years. Thanks for the memory horsesrule!

I have see it about 30 or so times myself. It is my favorite movie of all time. It was on again last night, I had to watch it. Every time I watch it I notice something different. Last night I noticed that when Toto pulls the curtain back to reveal the wizard he isn't pulling it back in his teeth. It seems the curtain is tied to his collar. I just never noticed that before. What a great movie, I am sure I will watch it another 30 times!

Countless times! I used to watch this ALL the time as a young child. When I received the DVD as a birthday gift i was so happy! My neice (2 years old) is now in love with the movie and asks me to put it on for her everytime she comes round (which is every single day lol). The other day alone i watched it 3 times! It is a great classic movie though!

Quite literally, once a year since I was about 5 years old. I never bought it. It's kind of more magical to wait until the holiday season every year for it to come on TV and watch it. Even if someone gave it to me as a gift, I would probably exchange it for something else.

The Wizard of Oz is one of my favourite films so I really don't know how many times I have seen it over the years. I used to watch it when it was shown on TV in the 1970s as a child. We got a VCR in 1980 and it was one of the first films we recorded off the TV. Many years later, I bought the DVD and my kids watch the film now too. It's a classic!

Hi, I guess mine is about around the 20 mark for watching Wizard of Oz. I used to love it when I was younger and would watch it everytime it was on TV (at least every Xmas) I haven't seen it around on TV for a long time now so haven't watched it in years!

My sister and I used to watch this timeless classic every year when it came on. It was a 'big event' in our household, as it was only shown the one time, as mentioned previously. Now with cable, VHS and DVDs, we can 'follow the yellow brick road' whenever we wish. My daughter is in a high school production of the Wizard of Oz, and the shows are currently running. She plays five parts, including one of the trees, and is loving it. Have you ever seen 'The Dreamer of Oz', starring the late John Ritter? It's a great 'made for t.v. movie', and worth checking out.

I watched so many times I just can't count. I went to a child party once and I was bored until I saw the children watching the movie. I couldn't resist. Now I bought the DVD and I went mad some days after when they launched a special edition in DVD.
