Just an observation. I went to LA sometime last 2005 and I'm seeing a lot of bums/beggars almost on every street in down town. Why is it these people would prefer walking around asking for penny rather than contact their relatives and live with them? Why is it a lot of homeless are roaming around that big city?

I don't think you're being fair to them all. Not all of hem choose to be out there. It may be easy for people who already have to say "why don't they get a job" but when no one is willing to hire you, or you have no place to lay your head, it's not so easy. Remember at any moment, anyone could be in the same situation. So instead of putting them down, maybe you should question americas poor governing skills, and ask thenm why they're not doing something to try and fix the problem, Instead of spenind billions in Iraq.

I'm not turning them down. I'm sorry if I sound like that. My question really is, why won't their relatives allow them to stay in their house? Is the culture in America like this?

Maybe because they have none..or maybe the family is estranged from one another...or maybe the relatives are psychotic and the reason those ppl are on the street...maybe the home life was abusive and violent..maybe the family lives in another country and the homeless perons has no way to get back there or even contact them....the reasons are many...In my case the reason I was on the street was becaue my parents kicked my a$$ out when I was 13...and all my other relatives live in England..so I had no choice...sure I stayed with friends every so often etc etc but you can only do that for so long and as time goes on and the situation doesnt change no matter what you try your depression gets worse and worse and the harder it becomes to see any light at the end of any tunnel....Its such a tragic state of affairs that even the shelters dont have enough room or beds for everyone in need and the government wont help...sure they'll say all the right things to get the votes of the ppl but they never follow through...Seen that happen too many times unfortunately
