Why do friends do this?

I usually accept most friend requests and see how we get on. I accepted someone yesterday and today I have a private message for referals to some other money making site, including the link. I don't think it's very nice it's not as if I know this person at all.
Does everyone get these? Would you stay friends with this person?

I like to get to know someone before we get to slinging referral links at each other....LOL.
I usually ASK if someone is interested before I send them something, which means we are talking about a post or some other issue we have in common to begin with. Even though a few referrals would be nice, it is more important, to me, that I be able to actually help someone out either by providing information ro helping them resolve and issue on their own.

I usually stay friends unless they post something really stupid or wrong. I just sort of shrug of the solicitation (even though it is a bit rude) as someone elses perogative. I've unly unfriended people who seem scum-y

I have had that two. I just thank them for thinking of me. If one of them would interest me I ask them for more information. So far no one has been bad enough to delete and I am getting discussions to respond to. It they really do rub you the wrong way then email them that you are deleting them and why then just do so. If that is what works for you then go for it. I have not had a bad one yet. Good luck with this.

That's just what I call an "eye-roller"...meaning you get the message, thinking cool, and find the money making opportunity. so, you just roll your eyes and delete the message and go on. Sometimes they just get all caught up in their online stuff and think everyone should be as excited as they are. It's usually harmless.

I received some of them also, and I politely decline on their offers. Because I think being here in mylot is already enough for me, and I am not interested anymore on any money making sites.
But if they still don't stop on sending me PM's about their links and sites, I sometimes reply some rude things because I don't think that they do got my message. And after that, I delete them to my friends list. I feel relieved by then..

Yes, this happens.. I've gotten a few myself. To them, you are just a stepping stone for them to get you as their referrals, and hoping get some money. Just shrug them off, you can't stop them. A new one pops up every now and then.
They are just trying to make money anyway so... be nice. :P

This happened to me two or three times. I never answer such mail and slowly with time, I deleted them from my friends' List. These people never answer your discussions nor they give you any good advise or anything. They are just posting links and post yes/no answers. I think myLot should closely monitor this type of people and take action.
Take care and have a nice day.

I've had this a few times too. Don't you think if you wanted these links you would just ask for them!? I always look to see if the person has a million friends before I say yes also because they are usually the ones that are only on here to pass on all their make money quick schemes...

I don't accept new friend’s requests most of the time. I have same bad experience as yours.

yes, even i have faced this couple of times when i got referral links from the user. not only this, i have been finding a user posting his referral URL (of agloco i guess)in his responses. to start with i couldn't really match upto the intentions but now as a veteran in here i have learned to dogde these intelligently.
i really appreciate your post. we can't stop this from happening but at least we should try to air something which is not desirable.

If I get one message from them, I do nothing. If I get more, I delete them.
