Is THEFT ever OK? Or funny?

If someone takes something from you as a practical joke, is this funny to you? If they take something, and then give it back later, as a joke to make you look for it... is that OK? If someone steals something from you because they don't like it.., say a ratty old t-shirt that you LOVE, but they hate it... and they steal it so you can't wear it. Is that ever OK? Is it ever funny? (yes, there is a story behind this of teammates stealing from someone on their team to keep them from wearing a certain piece of clothing, and I find it offensive and rude and STEALING!)

I guess it really depends on the individual situation. It depends on how long the object is 'missing' for, what the object is (a t-shirt or a priceless heirloom), who it is being 'stolen' off. I personally would never do that to anyone, even as a joke because we all know the awful feeling of losing your keys or your wallet or phone. It's horrible and to put someone in that amount of panic for fun is wrong

while I can not think of even one instance that I would find theft being funny for.... I can think of a reason for it to be alright. If a person is starving, or his family is starving and he has no means to buying foods, I believe it is okay to pick the apple off of another's tree in order to eat it. I do not think it okay for him to pick the apples and sell them, however.

I consider this to be totally unacceptable behaviour and have never thought of theft of any kind as amusing. I can see the reason why some would find this funny, but I cannot agree with it. The whole concept is a breach of personal liberty.

If someone takes something for a while like maybe 10-15 minutes its okay. I wouldnt find it very funny myself but its a source of amusement for the people hiding it. I dont make a big deal out of it if they give it back soon enough. Ofcourse hiding something from you when you need to use it is definitely not funny. I have an old t-shirt that I love. If anyone took it away Id really get mad. My boyfriend also has one of those and although I really hate it and think its really ugly and embarassing when he wears it Id never throw it out or take it away because I know how Id feel if someone did that. However I do nag him to glory about it so he rarely wears it ;)

I believe the intention is to irritate the person who's shirt was stolen, and this is funny to the one who got it. Practical jokes are funny, except of course to the victim.

You have given somewhat a positive aspect of stealing something or taking away something without permission. Well, to steal is not Okay but if the motive behind that is to make somebody to have a change is little bit tolerable. But I think, frankly, sometimes what we suggest for others is not altogather best fit for them. To have a fun with others is okay if it does not hurt the emotions! Thanks for a good topic.

I don't think it's funny at all. It's annoying and immature. I've had things stolen from me before and it isn't any fun whatsoever. I think the people on that team need to grow up!
