Our family loves popcorn, which may be partially responsible for our overall wide girth. Cooking popcorn hss been around since way, way back and recently, microwavable popcorn have come into vogue. Now, my question is which cooking method do you prefer, the traditional way (over a fire) or using the microwave?

I prefer to use the microwave to make popcorn because I don't have to heat oil... can't stand the smell of frying oil. Also, I don't have to stand there and watch it to make sure it doesn't burn or cause a fire (like my husband did the first time he tried to pop corn). However, I like to pour olive oil over the popped corn after it has popped. I don't think the popcorn is what's responsible for your "overall wide girth" unless you're putting all sorts of extra toppings on it. Isn't it supposed to be a "diet food"? It's a good source of fibre, anyway.

yeah, it may also have something to do with the excitement accompanying the experience of watching movies as a kid, complete with popcorn and soda!

I haven't ever cooked popcorn over a fire as in camp fire. I do remember doing the Jiffy Pop over a gas stove. Although I prefer using the microwave.

yup, using the microwave is more convenient but cooking over a stove top is fun as well.
