I have gone to the drs re swollen glands and sore throat and ended up going to an ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat) Dr and she said there was nothing wrong, BUT that fibro could cause such things...is that true? Anyone else suffer from this? Plus, one thing that she thought it might be (rarely is this the case) but it wouldn't cause exhaustion....which is what i am feeling... any suggestions? What type of dr should i suggest my family dr send me to?

Hi Cher That's not how my fibro presents but it sure pops up in alot of different ways. When I get shingles I have swollen and tender glands in my groin, underarms and my throat. Your glands swell when you have injury, infection,or some kind of problem somewhere in the body. I might try another dr. R

I have read that these can be FMS symptoms. Many doctors put FMS and ME in the same box. I myself have ME - sore throat and swollen glands + exhaustion are symptoms of ME as well. I often get sore throat and swollen glands if I am overdoing things. It is a signal I need to rest. Do you have a neurologist or another doctor that you see for your fibro? I'd talk to him/her about it. they should know if it indeed is a fibro-symptom or something else.

Myalgic encephalomielitis. It is classified as a neurological disease. It is also called Postviral chronic fatigue syndrom, or chronic fatigue syndrom. It may be quite similar to fibromyalgia. Before I was diagnosed with ME they thought I had fibromyalgia. My symptoms vary a lot from day to day and ghour to hour. they are fatigue, reduces tolerance for activity and stress, soar throat, feeling like i have the flu or hang over, headache, muscle and joint pain, non-refreshing sleep: I have a hard time falling asleep and wake up several times a night, dizzyness, nausia, numbness in arms and face, consentration and memory problems, problems finding the right words, mood swings, palpitations, blood pressure and pulse rate varies alot. I used to be part of a Chronic Fatigue Syndrome [CFS] and Fibromyalgia support group. Many of the CFS folks had swollen glands and sore throat with their fatigue. One thing we all seemed to have in common was that we had a history of lots of antibiotic treatment before the CFS presented itself. I thought that was very interesting. Seems doctors used to throw antibiotics at any illness that came along, especially with children. Some still do.
