Head lice is running rampant through all the schools in our town right now. And they seem to love my daughter. If she gets withing 30 feet of someone with lice it seems they find her... LOL.. We've been dealing with it for awhile now. It seems that I no sooner get her cleaned up, then she's okay for a bit and then it's back again. I've tried so many of the different products and home remedies and nothing seems to help. I just check her hair everyday and at the first sign of lice I wash her hair and all her stuff. It's wierd but my son hardly ever comes down with it, even when my daughter has it bad. The health nurse keeps trying to make me feel better by telling me that lice actually prefer clean hair so it's not a dirt situation but that just blows me away. So what if my girls hair is nice and clean.. she has lice!! Grrr... LOL...

James has never had head lice. Our nanny puts tea tree oil in his shampoo and he has never gotten it. I know people connect lice with dirtiness, but remember lice prefer clean hair!! Sometimes putting a little hair spray on the hair after washing helps too.

My girls got it threw school last year. I was really upset. My one girl kept getting it over & over because the other kids in her class were not being treated, that really made me mad. We found out my middle daughter was allergic to the stuff they sell to get rid of lice. She started breaking out from it & her asthma got bad. We ended up treating it with cooking oil.

My own girls never got head lice but niece has had it several times. The main reason she kept getting it was because one of her closest friend's mothers wouldn't do the proper treatment on her daughter for it and she kept "re-infecting" her grade school class. My sister went out of her mind over the head lice (and I have to admit, I'd probably do the same). She actually got obsessive about checking my niece's head because it wasn't just one time that she got them. Each time, they did the required number of shampoo treatments, tore their house apart, cleaning all upholstered furniture, the upholstered seats in the car (which a lot of people seem to forget), the bedding, the stuffed animals, the whole deal. She tries really hard and she also keeps my niece far away from any other kids to make sure not to pass them on. It's really discouraging when there are parents who don't take it seriously and treat it correctly :(
