Tyke - This was my baby through thick and thin, he's been mine since the day he was born, now he's gone...

Well, over the course of the day my beloved kitty, my first pet, darling comforter, and major cuddler, got ill, i called a vet and they told me that it's his kidneys (he was plugged and his kidneys were ready to burst, If they hadn't already, he was starting to smell a little) and to rush him in for an emergency 800 dollar surgery, not including the 2 day stay. He would pretty much recover, only to pass on in about 2 months... He was a Siamese, and after things like that they get violent.... Not to mention, i don't have the cash to even get him in the door right now... so i had to put my baby down. But he's not in pain anymore, and i know that he's gotta be happy. Here's my baby boy, I guess he loved pictures as much as i did. Anyone have a story about a pet you want to share, all are welcome. Thanks in advance.

I'm so sorry to hear about your baby. I've never lost a cat that I've been super close to but I have 4 right now and I know I would be so hurt if something happened to mine. Reading your discussion makes me want to go hug mine right now.

Thanks hunni... Never take them for granted, I don't think i ever did, but i never will either, Hold them when they want to be held, kiss them when they want kisses, cuddle them as much as you can, and never stop talking to them, they love to be talked to, to hear your voice, and hear you tell them how much you love them. They understand, their not dumb. Just always be there for them, because one day, you will eventually be without them, maybe not soon, but every second counts. Thank you.

Sorry about your kitty, and no, i don't have a story like that one,but 2 years ago my wiener dog had to be put down, he had gotten to the point that he could'nt even walk. The day my husband took him in, "Buddy" as we had called him, came into our office and looked up at me with a glare, like as if to say, help me mom. I almost could'nt bare the thought of what was going to take place. How sad it is, to loose a friend like that. I really am sorry bout your cat, but maybe you can get another.A new one will never take the place of your last pet, but maybe it might help. Take care.:)

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your little 'Tyke'...how sad. I know this next statement isn't going to make things any better but atleast he's not hurting anymore. I'm so sorry. I have a dog named Seirra, she's been my 'baby girl' for almost 7 years now. I found out she had heart worms on the 26th of Feb. The thought of losing her almost kills me. She's been the greatest dog ever! I really hope I can come up with the money for the surgery that she's supposed to have on the 26th of this month to treat them! I can't lose her, she's my baby :-(

that's the way i saw it, though like you, i couldn't see myself without him. i hope that things go good for you and your seirra, i wish you both the best. I've seen a lot of cases with heartwormes, i'm sure she'll be all right, and if she's not, just know you have lots of friends on here that'll support you and be there for you. Thank you hun, your words hit close to home.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Last fall we lost our Siamese to his second stroke. His first stroke left him with a limp and his face was partially paralyzed; but, he was still able to eat and get around in the house OK. The vet said another stroke would be likely within the year and would probably kill him. Since he was not in pain and could still get around, eat, and use the litter box; we did not have to put him down. The vet was right. He had his second stroke about 4 months later; he convulsed and stopped breathing. Like your Tyke, he is still missed even though we have gotten two new cats from the shelter to help ease the pain.

We have many other cats, but we'll still never forget our baby... I'm sorry to hear about your loss as well. must have been a horrible thing to have to endure watching him and knowing that he was going to go at any time. Thanks for your support and response.

Well, he wasn't suffering; just a little frustrated that suddenly his body wasn't working like it used to. We knew he would be leaving us soon, so we took extra good care of him and he really appreciated that. It was kind of, like an elderly relative that you know is ill and won't be around forever. It gives you time to say your goodbyes and you cherish the time you have together.

what i think is that this is a discussion board, a place where you talk about the topic of discussion, not try and make friends. If you want to be a friend, ask in a comment, or just send me a request.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my dog Winston two years ago and it still bothers me tremendously. He was hit by a car while I was in the hospital. My mom let him out and he chased a skunk. He was a kind and gentle soul. I miss him dearly even though I have two new dogs now. You can see him and all my other pets in my profile. Again, sorry for your loss.

yeah i know the feeling, i lost a dog to that aswell, we let him out and he was trying to protect the house from a coyote... I miss him more every day... And now my tyke... I'm also sorry for your loss, it seems pets are some of the hardest to lose, they become closer to you than a human can a lot of times... Thanks hun.

Spitfire I am so sorry to hear about Tyke! I'm glad to know it wasn't from any of that tainted catfood, that would just make it 10 times worse. I'm not trying to change the discussion, but reading it I have to ask you...are you wearing a "crazy" magnet today? There were a few oddball responses to such a sad discussion. Hang in there! :)

thanks hun... yeah i'm really glad that it wasn't the cat food either, i'm having a hard enough time losing one of my babies, but to lose others? gosh i couldn't do it... Don't worry about changing the discussion at all hun, i like talking to all of you... I think i am wearing a crazy magnet, it seems that psycho paths don't want to screw off, maybe i should jump through the computer and strangle them :D that would make me feel good! Haha, thanks hun, it's nice to know i have friends here i can talk to.

Thanks but i feed all my cats the same thing i have for the last 5ish years, and do a change in diet every so often so this doesn't happen. It's a special kitty brand and is totally healthy and safe. it was just something that i had no control over, there was nothing i could do. He's also the only cat out of my 13 that had this problem.

i hate to bring this up. But i am sure by now you have heard about the pet food that got recalled, i would check the news and check with what your kitten ate i wouldnt be surprised if it was eating the bad food. It was also made there in canada. I would check into with your vet i am sure this company is going to have a huge law suit against them.

i heard about the recall and i looked into it, some of the brands that i have been using were listed but they had said on there that their exclusive testing came up almost dry, though I'm not leaving it out, it bothers me to no end. I'm very close to having them put on a raw no chemical diet, Thanks hun...

I'm so sorry about your kitty. I will be a basket case when mine go. I was freaking out about the pet food recall, but I checked the product code on the IAMs wet food, and mine was okay. Although I've lost pets that we had when I was growing up and I was sad, I was not as close to them as I am to the two cats I have now, so it will be much worse when they go. One is about 11 and the other is about 7. I am glad they aren't too close in age so I shouldn't lose them around the same time, at least in theory.
