making caramel sauce
March 16, 2007 9:22pm CST
I have heard about this for years but never tried it until a few days ago. I put a can of sweetened condensed milk [put in the whole can, unopend][I used the store brand], into a pot of water, covering the can. I heated it until the water began to boil, then I reduced the heat to a simmer, covered the pot and let it simmer for about six hours. I checked occassionaly to make sure there was still water over the can. I removed the can from the water, opened it and it was the best carmel sauce I have ever made. So easy, hope you all try it.
