Good and evil inside us all?

yin and yang..good and evil - yin and yang.. good and evil

What I mean is, do you think that wicked thoughts, ideas, and other "evil" things are inside of everyone and we chose to control these things or not? I feel that no matter what you may be predisclosed to, you ultimately make a choice. I know there are addictions and other things that make people say they weren't thinking or didn't realize what they are doing. But in my eyes, wrong is wrong and when you chose to do something, you also chose to accept the consequences of such action. What do you think?

Yes I agree with you, those who are considered good also at times have wicked thoughts but they have mastered over their evil side and act with goodness. While those who are unable to master their evil thoughts act accordingly are termed bad.Consequences of bad action is always bad, the saying what you sow so you reap.

I agree with you completely. Sure as times we will have all done things that we know are wrong. Most of us will not be proud of those things. I believe that ultimately we are responsible for the choices we make in life and for the consequences of those choices.

We all have good and evil inside us all. We make our choices and we should have to live with them. I know though that some people's ying and yang are off but that can't be helped.

actually I think it can be helped. Like I said before, they make choices. Nice answer.

I believe we have varying degrees of each as well as a neutral factor in there as well. But there's always a bit of each. I don't believe we control the bad..so much as we supress or direct it. Even evil can be beneficial sometimes, as paradoxal that might seem. I've always felt that without a kind of balance..we suffer, in various ways. I had the hardest time..struggling between the two until I actually embraced it, accepted the fact that I had it..then it became quiet. No two extremes..simply me, for better or worse..the mixture of it all lol. Though yes sometimes bad thoughts or urges sneak up on me, but it IS ultimately each of our choices what we do. It's what makes morality so HARD lol. Sometimes bad is good and good is bad *laughs* it just all depends on the various circumstances. No matter what there's repercussions for everything. Cause and effect.

I do understand what you are saying here, and agree that they co-exist. I also agree that we choose what we do in life no matter what our excuse may be.

That is true because we are all human, it's natural for us to think in both sides. Luckily, our thoughts don't act on it's own, the choice we make between good and evil or what we will do or how we will approach each situation is what matters.

I will probably be in the minority here. Don't get mad at me :) I do not happen to believe in the "ying and yang" idea of dualism. Instead I think that evil is the absence of goodness. Therefore it does not co-exist with goodness inside of us. It does not actually exist at all. It is the privation of that which IS (good) So, yes, evil happens - but not because it is an entity, but because it is the lack of goodness. For the Christian (as far as I am aware) they believe that God is their only Good. Without Him (and His goodness) they are nothing. therefore without goodness what is left is no thing...evil is no thing. it does not coincide with good. when you do wicked, you are not doing good. when you are doing good you are not doing wickedness.

I could never be mad at you :) We all have our opinions. I am actually not a overly religious person, not do I firmly believe anything that is told to me. What I meant with my question, and it was worded to be more understanding. Is that most people if not all people have it in them to do evil or wicked things. That we make a conscious choice on whether or not to act on these things.

Oh! well in that case, I answer in the affirmative. Yes, each of us (other than some exceptions i.e. some mentally stunted persons) has it within us the ability to choose to an act of wickedness or an act of charity.

yes there is good and evil in everyone but i depends on the situation, like in which situation yo act like good and where evil. the rule of this world is so simple we are ood with good ones and evil with bad ones
