If you're like me, you thought no harm was done to sheep while 'harvesting' wool; that it was just sheared off the animal and grew back. I've discovered there's more to it than that and you can check it out for yourself: http://savethesheep.com/ Thanks to all who take a couple of minutes to check this out for themselves!

is that the video with Pink? Luckily for me I've hated wool all my live, even just 5 percent wool in a sweater will make me itch. Even Angora or Cashmere. Can't stand the stuff touching my skin, it's as if I'm allergic to it. I'm all for cuddly cotton and I'd rather wear synthetics than animal hairs. My husband has a few wool sweaters but after seeing the Peta video with pink, he's very much against wool too and he has gone vegan. Thanks for spreading the word about wool bonbon50

Not sure which video you watched as there are a few on the sight. The one dealing with just the wool trade is: http://www.petatv.com/tvpopup/Prefs.asp?video=save_the_sheep Just hit the play button. This is NORMAL practice in this industry!

you obviously dont know or have never been to a sheep farm, for starters, peta is using tactics based on untrue facts, yes, the lambs have their tales cut off, not hunks of flesh, the reason is, if they don't the bags of crap get caught on the wool, and then flys lay their eggs in it, then the maggots start to eat the sheep alive, the sheep are also bred for a particular market, there are the meat and the wool sheep, i admit that sheep are put on to ships, but that is because muslims want to kill their own meat and won,t let our butchers do it, and what they do to the sheep is not the fault of australian farmers, they are treated well here, before you get on the band wagon, get all the facts first, not from some radical idiot group, i am austarlian and i have seen first hand how shep are treated, the worst problem they have got at the moment is the drought, and the farmers have put everyhing they have got into just trying to keep them alive, so give them a break, i bet you don,t have the worry,s australians have with the lack of water and some moron groups trying to blame us for being cruel

The tail AREA is removed, and the males are castrated, all without any numbing! Would you want that procedure done on your pet if you have one? I'm sure some sheep are 'slaughtered' humanely, but I will stay on my band wagon for the ones who aren't. The pictures and the videos don't lie...... These aren't staged 'acts' done for Peta's 'radical' sake. The sheep dragged by their ears and legs.....penned in extremely crowded areas. You tell me to get all the facts first, but yet you (among most people who don't know better) have heard one or two stories about zeolots acting in the name of Peta and therefore judge the whole organization by that. That's like judging the anti-abortionist by the ones who've blown up clinics or shot staff members. Those people are so twisted in the name of 'pro-life' that they go over the top. This can happen with any group of people taking a stand against or for a cause.

I have looked at this site a long time ago. That is there, and I like the comment from below about the maggots etc. Disease is far more harmful and prevelent in animals not taken care of correctly. How about our sheep farmers in this country. Our Farmers stuggle to make a living in the wool industry and any agricultural venue for that matter. I buy my wool locally and process it myself. Sheep taken care of properly are not abused. You who are boycotting wool are loosing out on the natural warmth and wicking of wool. You tell me you would rather have acrylic (polyester) than wool. Wearing polyester is harmful to us. It does not breath or wick.
