Yes this is quite normal and exercises that can be done can prevent the problem from increasing as you get older or maybe have another child. They are called pelvic exercises and should be done daily!

yes megan, sad but thats the fact-i hate it too when i have to cough, and that i should the whole day, because its worse then. but dont worry, it should be better soon with you. you are young enough for a bit recovering.

This is just one of the things we have to put up with i'm affraid. Coughing isnt such a problem for me - its sneezing! There are the pelvic floor exercises you can try which are supposed to help. Also when you pee try to stop mid flow then start again. Only do it once though. Try to do this every other day. It is meant to give you more control but you shouldnt do it too often as it can confuse your bladder apparently - just something I read somewhere.

You don't get a weak bladder because your child lay on it. Your bladder becomes weak because during pregnancy and then birth the pelvic muscles all become stretched to their fullest degree. Think of it like a big piece of elastic. Stretch it tighter and tighter over a nine month period and bits of elastic will break. When you stop stretching, instead of returning to it's original form, it will have lots of weak sections where the fibres have let go. The same thing happens to our pelvic muscles including those muscles that let us control our bladder. I only have to think about peeing and I do. Sometimes I begin before I've sat down on the loo and that's yucky. Even if I go just before a shower, I always start to pee when I turn the shower on. I wear a pad these days. All the time. How romantic is that?

Yes Meg and it is quite normal to I know it is not nice and it will get better but it will never stop all together as you know mine are 23 and 20 now and I still have that problem but not as bad. The worse time is when I cough and that I do hate.

I did not suffer this for long. It was right after I had my son. I do not have a weak bladder now. I was just at the Dr. discussing this with her Friday. I made the comment that I do not expel as much as I take in. She said that was ok because a lot of people have a stronger bladder than others. The reason we even had this discussion was due to some swelling caused by water retention. She also said those with weak bladders will always have them most of the time. There really isn't much you can do except pick the times you drink and make a restroom is near by.

from the baby sitting on your bladder and from all the straining during giving birth your poor bladder has taken a beating. Try doing Kiegle exercises. Basically, it's tightening the muscles that you use to start and stop the flow of urine. They can be done anywhere at anytime and they do help. I had twins that totally murdered my bladder. After 2 months of doing them 5 times a day 30 times each time and my bladder is better. Try it

Yes, its normal, I experience the same thing. Before I had a child I could hold it for hours and hours. Now since I had a baby, I can only hold it for about an hour max. They say your body change after you have a baby, it really does.

Yes I had this problem aswell my boys are now 9 and 7, I asked my doctor this after I had my first son and he told me to really concentrate on pelvic floor muscles, so next time you rush off for your wee try and stop it mid flow just try this a few times a day and you will probably start seeing a difference..good luck

megan you are not alone as you can see. If it is bother some see your doctor. I have 3 kids, and yes I can't hold it like I use to be able to before kids. But I haven't pee'd on myself, and that would concern me if I was you and would go to the doctor to make sure that something more serious wasn't wrong. Most likely it is normal. When I was pregnant, I couldn't cough or I'd pee on myself, but not after I gave birth, it was when I was very pregnant.

Hi! Don't feel bad, I have the same problem, if I plan on going out to shop or whatever I have to remember not to drink anything so I won't have to go to the bathroom a million times =) I use to joke that when my daughter was born part of my bladder came out with her, because I was like you, could drink alot and not have to go, but now it is different. It is normal I guess, but a pain!!

it's normal. I have a problem with my bladder when I have to go it's very painful like i had been holding my urine for a long time and when I do go to the restroom it's like a release like a hugh weight had been lifted off my bladder and I have 4 kids. i guess from so much presser being on my bladder without really no break from having my kids it makes it hurt so I have to go once i feel that i have to go cause i can't stand for the pain. if i would have spaced my kids out more then I probably wouldn't have this problem. all my kids are from 9 - 20 months apart. with just one year gap between my second child and my third child
