Am I the only one who suffers through car, history & discovery shows?

I am so tired of not getting to watch tv shows that appeal to me. When my hubby is home, he doesn't like to watch the same shows as I do, and I have been fair and tolerant for a long time now. But my goodness, I'm missing some great evening programming. He only likes to watch ALL the discovery channels, we have satellite. I like a couple of episodes now and again, but this is ridiculous. Super cars of the future, Mail Call, biker build-off's, trick my truck, anything sci-fi, Dr. Who. Don't get me wrong, some great shows there, but I like a variety. Am I the only one who gives up the remote?

I gave up the remote years ago! I now hold my mouse, and am pretty handy at it by now! So, I don't watch TV much. Maybe half an hour before sleep. I don't watch any TV other than this.

I don't watch as much as I used too. But I at different times will watch more than others. But I have started to speak up and say hey you know a new show is coming on and you might like it. He doesn't usually fuss about it, but I can tell he's not happy. I also get on the computer a lot when he is watching the tv and guarding the remote :)

Well neither of us watch much TV at all, so it really isn't an issue with us. Our TV probably only gets turned on for a couple of hours a week, and that is normally for a football (soccer) match that he wants to match. It really doesn't bother me that much. Sometimes I will watch it - if not I use the Internet, or go out for an hour or so!!!

Goodness, I don't know what that would be like to not watch tv for that long. We always have it on, I watch the news everyday. A lot of times I don't watch tv during the day much because I am cleaning or doing something else, but in the evening when I want to wind down or relax or while I am crocheting, I like to catch some good shows. But then, my hubby likes to also, we just don't like the same shows and it is so boring to sit through something over and over that isn't interesting, or knowing that something better is on.

Not yet, but I have brought the subject up. We have one upstairs that has home theatre and all hooked up, but b/c of my back hurting I can't lay in the bed watching tv, I have to sit in the recliner. So he actually could go upstairs for that, but when I do get to turn it to something that mainly I want to watch, he leaves the room til it's over, I usually will stay in there awhile at least. I don't mind him watching b/c he works all the time, but I never get to watch my evening shows. So I may be hooking me up a tv in another room, very soon :)

This is truly different from what I've heard before :) I guess if we had divo or something I could record my shows. But I actually am considering putting another tv in the living room and he can have the den. We do watch some shows together, but he insists on watching shows that I just have no interest in at all. And he will watch the reruns too.

Yeah, I have two people to fight with when it comes to watching tv programs, so of course, I was always lose! We were lucky to receive a second hand tv from one of my hubbys workmates, so now we have two. I leave my hubby and son in the lounge and I go off to the bedroom and watch my programs. Sometimes my son comes in and wants to watch something and I always tell him, after I finish watching my one first LOL. He has no choice but to listen (hehe)!

You really do have a time with it! I hadn't thought what it would be like if it were more of us here :) I am strongly considering putting a tv in the living room so he can have the den. That way at least we'd be near each other. We usually do everything together, but when it comes to tv, we just don't like the same things.

My hubby works all the time, so when he is home I don't fuss about the remote, but he knows I don't like certain shows but will watch them anyway. He has his own tv upstairs with home theatre, etc., but when I do say hey I'd like to watch so and so, he will turn it to my channel but then get up and go on the computer or something til it's over. I at least sit there and suffer through it, ha ha. Thanks for sharing.

We have a tv hooked up in the bedroom with home theatre. We used to watch tv a lot in the evenings up there, but my back hurts so bad now that I can't watch tv in the bed, I do good to sleep in there, but I have to sit in the recliner. So he could go upstairs to watch all that, but he doesn't want to, he wants to be where I am, but I don't like his tv shows, they are ok some of them, and once in awhile. But for the most part, they are all boring to me. Men & women don't have the same taste in shows I guess. But I have mentioned putting a tv in the living room which we never use, that way he could have the den.
