Quick! I need some slot machine tips!

Yes, I know there have been discussions re:gambling here but I don't need just a discussion. I need a winner! My husband is taking me to the casino today and he wants me to play poker or some other table game. Now, I love poker but I REALLY love the slots. He complains that there is no skill, no system other than superstition. I say it's gambling, duh, it's supposed to rely on luck. At one point, I had a system of watching the little numbered wheels barely visible on the sides of the reels. There are 3 reels and each reel has a little counter on its end. When the top two counters started moving, that is when I would double up my bet or play the max because, my theory was, then the machine would start paying. There must have been something to it because now the casinos have covered up the edges of the slot machine window so that you cannot see the counters! That was the only system that I had. I need some theory that can pass as a system to counter his arguement of "dumb luck." I have seen the websites that offer slot machine "secrets" for 50 to 100 dollars. I have even read "Slots for Dummies". What I really need is a tried and true system from a diehard slots player (who isn't trying to sell me anything! lol) We are also planning a vacation in Vegas later this year. I think that it is time that slots lovers get the respect they deserve. Besides, 20 bucks lasts me longer on the nickel slots than a 100 bucks lasts him on the blackjack table! So, what is your favorite slot "system" and what was your biggest jackpot to date?

Well, we went that night and broke even, but only because my husband plays video poker. The slots were brutal. This was the first (and last) time that we went to this casino. They didn't have any regular quarter slots, you had to play at least 4 lines. Most of the max plays were 180 quarters! I did learn one tip that night that will help slot players - don't play if you don't like the machine and if you don't like the casino, leave! Thanks for responding and good luck with the jackpots (that seems to be the only thing that works!)

I wish i could help you out. But i know nothing about casinos at all. LOL i have never been in one. but i am seriously debating about going to the new one out in PA since its about a hour drive from me in Ohio for my birthday. I only really would play the slots, i have no clue on the card games. I would have dumb luck as you would say if i ever won anything. Good luck to you hope you win big!

I know that I shouldn't advocate vices and gambling is a vice - but it's not like it's smoking or something, right? Hey, it's a little bit of frivilous fun, as long as you don't go overboard. There are gobs of books and websites on every casino game, loads of free ones, too. I suggest you play a few games between now and your birthday, to find which ones you like best. (By the way, when is your birthday?) Thanks for the luck and I'll let you know how it goes.

I have whacked one for $5000.00 once and had a few thousand dollar wins, too! But that's just me! :) Slow machines have become computers with random number generators and preset payout programs... it's almost impossible to develope a system to play and win on them with any regularity... Better to play roulette or video poker :) Here's some fun for you! :) http://www.videopoker.com

oh gosh I don't believe in those machines, they are rigged to make the establishment rich not the payee. I don't know any system but I do know that a few of my friends from the past had a system and it worked for them, It sounds something like what you are talking about, but if I remember correctly they said something about the wheel getting heavy coming down slower or something like that and that is when the payout came. good luck

With the emergence of the random number generators (RNGs) as the operating system for slot machines, there really isn't a method for beating slot machines. What you can do to improve your odds is: 1, play when its crowded. The more money being played overall, the more money is available to be paid out; 2, stick to the areas near doors or main access ways. Theory is, house wants people to see winners as soon as they hit the doors. Doesn't seem possible with RNGs, but what the heck; 3, never play more than 25 lines, and rarely play the max credits. I will frequently play only half of the available lines, but 2 credits per line. This increases the payout on what you do win, but doesn't run your money out as quickly. I very seldom play more than half of the maximum bet, it doesn't pay off in the long run; 4, watch the flow of play for a while before picking a machine. I like to sit down at a machine that half a dozen people have fed money into, with no big wins. This is a machine due to hit! 5, hit and git! If you get a good win, take it out and put another bill in. It is all too easy to play it all back! If that second bill is halfway gone with no results, move on to another machine; 6, Listen to your heart or gut. I wait for a machine that "speaks to me", you'll know the feeling when it comes. My biggest jackpot (so far) has been $2500, won on a 50 cent 3 line machine. I've also had several wins over $500. My biggest win in any form of gambling has been $10,000, on a crazy 8s bingo scratcher. My luck is like the little girl with the curl: when it is good, it is very, very good, and when it is bad, it is horrid! =o) =o) =o)

Thanks for the good advice! I keep waiting for that "gut" feeling to activate itself, but I just don't have it! I don't know all the reasons why I prefer the slots - I just love the excitement of chance. I like scratchoffs for the same reason but the lights are brighter on slots! lol I don't know what I would do if a scratched off 10,000 dollars (but it probably wouldn't involve telling my husband!)
