Weird text message

A few weeks ago I got a strange text message from someone who wrote, "Mmm, hot munkie!" It was not from a number I recognized. i wrote back, "WTF?" The person continued to text message me, and I continued to text bakc, mostly just joking and tormenting each other, usually with a monkey-related theme. This has gone on for several weeks now! I tried calling the number from a different phone, planning to hang up when I heard the person's voice, but it was just a voice message recording. And not even a personal one... it was just the robotic one that comes with the phone! What do you think of this?

I think that it is interesting, and in good fun then continue with it, but if it starts getting creepy then I would change ur number maybe it is someone who has a crush on you ;)

yep. that's the best thing to do. if you can't get rid of him, better change your number. he might just be someone you know and just wanna make fun of you. that's not nice.

Sounds like a premium rate call scam to me. What a waste of time. Anyway, are you really a hot monkey? haha

there are lots of people out there who's love is just to annoy people... even those they don't know of. and you are just one of the victims. i have received messages before which are weird, too. and when i get to ask who the texter was, they never replied back but just went on sending unnnecessary and irritating messages. i just let them and never bothered to text back. and it all stopped after awhile. but i admit, it was so annoying!

Better for you to change a new number... Then you won't be bothered by that robotic texter again.

How weird, I would be a little concern. Because the world today is crazy. I would maybe keep trying to call the number to see if the person ever answers. I would also be careful when you are out, you never know now days what people are thinking or planning. Good luck with it.

If it was late at night, maybe the person was just trying to text their friend and accidently got you. You know, kind of like drunk dialing, but it's drunk text dialing. It sounds like a fun and entertaining thing. I wouldn't be too worried about it. You might have made yourself a new friend.

Hmm...sounds to me like a prank...probably some drunk college kids who have nothing better to do with their time! It has happened to me before...and it can be quite amusing. But I'm sure after awhile you'll find it annoying if it keeps up. My suggestion would be just to ignore the texts if it comes to that.

If I where u i would stop responding to the text. It could be a stalker or someone that can hurt you and your family. If it continues i would call the cops and let them deal with it.

It probably started out as a mistake on their part and since you texted back it has become fun. For monetary reasons I would not use my texting for strangers haha but hey it doesn't hurt to have a little fun these days, just be very careful. If it becomes uncomfortable or creepy do like they say and change your number.

Hmmm I do understand that you would be intrigued by now whether it is a person you know who is playing a joke on you or it is someone unknown. Now although you have tried calling the person up but eventually failed because of an answering machine, I think that it is high time that you text message the person and ask to tell you more about him/her. It could be a friend of yours or it could be someone who has a crush on you ;) or in some cases it can also be someone dangerous. Now the best thing to do would be to ask the person to meet you in a crowded place like a mall and if the person refuses then change your number or if you feel that the person is pestering you, then you call let the police know about this and I am sure that they can find out who it is. Whatever you do, do not give out any personal information and if he asks for your name then give out a wrong name. Try to find out who the person is and if you do not succeed in this, then change your number or either let the police know about it.

First of all, I think you should have restrained yourself from replying to the text messages. Because you were encouraging the player to respond to you. And for the monotonic voice message you have got. It might be that the person might have set some call divert of some funky voice mailbox, and he might have been messaging with the same number. So that no one calls him and he can continue his carefree messaging.

This happened to me a lot of times. At first I replied, asking them who they were, maybe they were friends whose numbers I do not have in my phonebook. Then after I just didn't take notice of them. I figured if they have to say something important to me then they'd cut the monkeying around and get to the point. Some would even call but I never would answer. But if the number is not in my phonebook I never respond unless they introduce themselves. This keeps creeps from wasting my time.

Stop giving legitimacy to the texts by replying, fun or no fun. That type of person does not deserve expending your precious time and money on. You don't have to change your line. When "it" gets tired, "it" will stop harassing you ( yes, "it" because he/she behaves that way). You don't exchange words with a lunatic lest the people classify you together. I once exchanged hot words with a scammer on the phone the other time, and regretted it.

don't indulge him. some people just enjoy teasing others and the more you are looking pissed and bothered, the more he's enjoying it. don't text back and call the number again. see if the annoying messages will stop. if not, and you're still bothered then you can change your number. but changing your number will be quite a hassle since most of your friends already know that number.
