I used to keep them in albums, but now I keep them on disk. It is fire proof and easier to copy

Yeah.. Before, when we still use film rolls for our cameras, I keep my pictures in an album or I put them in a scrapbook.. But now that we make use of digital cameras, I keep them in my computer and save them in CDs.. I even make slideshows of them sometimes.. And then I also print some to put inside frames..

CDs are not fireproof. I have online storage, this is where i keep a backup of all of my important data.

You are 100% correct. CDs are not fire proof. either is teh hard drive on your computer. I used to do a little IT admin at a company, and we had a serious safe for our server backup tapes. it wasn't about them catching fire, it was the HEAT from a fire melting the media. online storage is safest. Backing up images on a CD that is then put in a bank lock box, is also safe. But just putting them in a fire proof box is not enough, These are often just made to resist BURNING, which works to save paper. YOu need something that is also HEAT resistant and will keep the heat of the fire out, so that the CDs don't melt. Online backups are a good and usually free service for backing up your images.

i used to keep the photos in albums earlier. but after getting a computer, i have transferred them all to my computer. it is safer here and easier to see them.

I have my old albums and then the disks and also straight to computer that we do now with the digital camera. I still pull out my albums and miss the time when we put them together. Often a family event and one that is to be maintained in other areas now. Will be interesting to see what others have to say.

I save mine onto disks as well. DVDs and CDs. Just easier since we are now living in the age of the digital camera. Plus, it's cheaper in the long run since I only make prints of those pictures that I want.

I have some in Albums but I am in the process of tranfering them to cd. I keep the ones already burned in my safe which is fireproof. And if ever the occasion arises where cd's become obsolete i can always tranfer the data to the new media type. I am sure that it would be sensible for technology to allow us that.

I keep them in albums (I scrapbook) and I keep them on DVD. Not the DVD's are in a safe place, though they really should be.

it's better to keep it on disk. One of my cousin's just got robbed and someone took her computer and she had all of her families pictures on her computer. If she had a back up disk she would of been safer maybe. it is sad that someone would do that.

Me too. But now I wonder if that is such a good idea. Just as floppy disks don't play on new computers, how long until there is no where to use the CD's? Then I'll lose hundreds of photos! I don't know what's best.

I have some in albums, some on discs and some just on my computer. I really like to be able to view photos on my laptop - they are always with me if i want or need to show them to someone. I like evn more to have them in albums. I like to be able to sit down and look through them in a book. I am a little behind right now. getting prints of my photos is one of the things on my to do list

I kept all my photos in albums until about seven years ago. For about a year prior to that, I did both. Now I store all my photos online as well, as it is a nice way to be able to share them with my far flung family and friends.

I save my photos in albums. If I take photos with my digital camera, the pictures are also saved on my computer. But I like having the photos in albums so I can sit down on the couch and thumb through them anytime I want.

I have photos in boxes and envelopes. In 2002, I purchased my first digital camera so now pictures are either on disk or computer.

I have pictures in photo albums and some are in saved here in my computer. Well, sad to say that up to now, we don't have a digital camera. We're still using the kind of camera which uses films. So we have it developed and keep them in a photoalbum. Besides, I like scrapbooking so it gives me something to do that I enjoy. And my aunt is sending us a digital camera this month so maybe the photos to be placed in albums will be lessened. Then when the photos get developed and I wanna post them somewhere online, I get it scanned and saved to my computer and I keep them all in one folder. It's nice because I have it both on album and on my computer too.

I'm pretty much the same way as you. I used to always use albums, but now I keep all of them on CDs. I still have all my old albums, but I don't really add to them anymore, unless I go on a special trip or something and want to make a scrapbook.

Actually I keep mine on my disc that they are in the camera on. I have like 5 of them. I REALLY need to when I get a chance (hasnt happened yet...) to get them and save them on disc. But for now I just have them on their little memory cards. Sad but true

Me too I used to keep my photos in albums but now with the digital camera I just keep them on cds and dvds. I have my favorite pictures in a folder and I use that folder as my screen saver so when I take a break from the computer I see my favorite pictures on the screen. Besides being fire proof and easier to copy, keeping the pictures in cds and dvds saves us a lot of room.
