Once my husband and i go out with our kids and he drop us in the mall entrance and park the car in a parking lot but he called on my cellphone and told me that he locked the car with the key inside, our duplicate is at home and its far from the mall, what we do is ask the parking lot taker and we pay their machinist to open it.

I did once and didn't have a spare key. I used a metal coat hanger to break into the car - I did it first time. I was shocked it was so easy to break into my car (it was a Ford Fiesta) and have always asked about security before buying cars since then. I also make sure I have a spare key at home (although this wouldn't help if I was far from home).

My car is equipped with a system called OnStar. If I lock my keys inside I call a toll free number giving them my security code and they open it electronically for me. OnStar has many great features also. A built in phone that you buy minutes for just like a cell phone. Also the phone works with Verizon cell phones also. Many great features. I've never locked my keys in the car. YET.

Oh! That's happened to me a number of times before. I used to have this old car and the alarm system wasn't working anymore. As in, it got too sensitive and I had to deactivate it and use keys to lock instead. But it's pretty easy to open it up with just a ruler..or a hanger. I can steal cars for a living already, if only I know how to hotwire them haha

I used to do this quite a bit....lol.....but since I know use my remote to lock the car this has stopped. It always happened to me when I changed the order of doing things. I'm such a creature of habit. I always tell everyone not to feel bad, though, as my best friend once locked her keys in her car 2 times in one day! Ugh!

When I was young I locked the keys in my dads car with it running. I went into church for about 3 hrs and did not know it. When I came out and found it I was so embarrassed. I had to call my parents to bring the other key to get me into the car. lol
