Why must you go camping when you can enjoy better vacation or getaway just by staying at a nice resort or so?

for some of us camping IS the better vacation! I love to camp and actually miss it a great deal! Hopefully this summer though my family and I will be able to go camping for at least one week LOL...I need to buy a new tent though..

Oh, it never sucks for me. I missed my high school life enjoying campings. It's more practical and less expensive to enjoy and appreciate nature.

Camping is about enjoying nature and the outdoors. Food always tastes better cooked over an open fire! My favorite part of camping is sitting around the fire at night, doing nothing, just talking or dozing.

Camping is more practical and it's cheaper. You can do more when you go camping. Most campgrounds have regular bathrooms and showers so it's not so bad to go camping. You are getting in touch with nature and getting back to basics. I don't see anything wrong with that.

There isnt anything like camping..Smell of an open fire with cooking breakfast on an open fire or roasting marshmallows and making somore's. (yummy).. Spending quality time with your family...Getting back to nature.. Stopping and smelling the roses.. You cant get that at a resort.. I choose to camp instead of resorts...

strangely enough, some people see spending time camping is better than a resort. I think it is just a matter of personal preference.

Because some of us like proximity to nature, rather than being surrounded by a bunch of fat guys and kids at a resort. Sometimes it's great fun to be pampered at a spa, or tour a metropolis, and sometimes nothing is more valuable than peace and quiet among the birds and the trees. A "nice resort" can mean a million different things, but a chlorine pool can never beat the ocean or a pristine lake. A sauna shared with other sweaty *sses can't beat a natural hot spring. Getting away for three days at the cost of gas sure as hell beats spending a few hundred to go to a "nice" resort. And I'll hike the woods any day before breating the air in another gym (puke!). If you don't like it, don't do it.

Getting closer to nature, the hot dogs and marshmallow treats cooked over a campfire, the stars at night, the birds in the morning, enjoying the company of your friends and family.
