Would you serve your children GM food?

I've been following the news about GM food. The first time I heard about it was, when the chefs and restaurant owners across US stateline gathered to lobby for the labeling of GM food. They claimed that they didn't have enough data to ensure the safety of their customers. It was sometime in 2004, and now it's 2007. So much has happened in the span of 3 years, but I haven't heard of labeled GM food. For all I know, most of the canned beef and other meat are from cloned cows. I'm a bit of a health buff, and watch what I eat when I'm not busy. I stopped eating canned foods a few years back. But I work full-time and have not much choice in the food area. I grab anything to eat when I'm pressed for time. I may have eaten GM food unwittingly. Is it good for health? Would you eat GM labeled food?

Thanks for this post. To be honest, I haven't heard of GM foods until now. I'm particularly aware of modified rice, but as to the cows, i thought clonning was already banned. Sorry for my ignorance, I guess this what happens when you let kids own the TV. I'm for labeling the GM food and I would definitely not let my kids eat them.

Funny I didn't realize that meats can also be genetically modified although I call 45-days chicken as "artificial chicken" LOL! Anyway, I'm not so much of a meat eater and I only eat it when there are no other options. However, here in Thailand most of our favorite fruits and probably vegetables are GMs. There was a call to stop the practice but farmers were protesting because according to them GM fruits are less prone to diseases and insect attacks. Will I serve GM foods? There is hardly anything in the market/grocery stores that are not GM except maybe in the provinces or remote areas.

i don't even know what GM food is. Is it all meat? If so, i don't even have to think about it. i am a vegetarian. However, if GM foods can also be veggies and they are "tainted" in some way, then i should watch out.

I have never heard of this before. All I really ever see on TV is cartoons and movies the kids watch. Could you please give some references so I can look this up. I cook everyday almost and I would love to know if I'm feeding my children something other than what I think it is.

as a matter of fact, gm foods are not to be consumed by humans. why? because health officials and scientist have not conviced us about the nutritional value of the foods. and besides i think food like this could have a negative effects in human system

A lot of frozen foods sem to say GM free on them so altough I prefer fresh veg I tend to buy the best quality frozen veg that I can as it saves on waste too. I have never purposefull eaten it and am sure that the more natural our food is the better but short of growng it all ourself how do we know that the packaging is honest and correct.

I have no choice as I drink soya milk, and there is no way of knowing if it is GM or not. My kids also drink it. I know that rice milk is healthier but it is nearly twice the price per carton so I can't afford it. It also doesn't have added vitamins like their soya milk does.
