Why can't religious people not accept that some people just don't believe

or need some god to keep their life on track? Why can't they understand that we see through the rhetoric and have found reality to be better than believing in some sky monster who is going to judge us after we are dead? Why must religions insist that everyone belong to the flock? After all, the whole thing was invented by Moses to keep his people in line after he got them out of slavery.

certainly in the monotheistic religions of the book it is a path to paradise to convert as many people as possible, they cant accept that you may be an unbeliever as their whole being is centred around their religion. sad really
blessed be

I dont know if religious is equal to spiritual... as i am one of those spiritual human beings... i dont worship one single god ... though i do believe there is a higher power in life that plays a big role in everyone's life...
i believe every single event has a strong reason for it to be occuring at the first place... i do not believe in co-incidences...
though i'd like to add that i do not ever talk to people or advice any one around me to believe in anything that they have not experienced personally... that includes what you had to say

Because we're nuts and we're judgemental? hahahah :) You're right. I find that religious people are the most judgemental. It seems that some of us can't accept another person's religion. My mother, a devout catholic thinks that Taoism is a form of idol worshipping / satanism LOL. But I try not to be. There are people that believe in science? Mine..humanity. ALL religion teaches us to do good things, not to kill, not to lie, not to cheat, help others..that's all I live by and go to church every week for myself, not for anyone else.
Don't worry about these people though. Just do your own thang girl!

Actually, they are in that school because it has french immersion and the classes are much smaller than in public school. However, learning qbout religion really won't hurt them, and may make them more tolerant when they grow up and realize just how stupid religion really is. already my 11 year old grandson is questioning what is in the bible, which is a good thing.

'because a little religion never hurt anyone!'
I am very tolerant of other beliefs, but this simple statement is so loaded it is not even funny. Talk about a call for the explicit atheists to come out of the woodwork and quote hundreds of bible verses or historical bloodshed in the name of religion.
I think religion does a lot of good and bad, just like anything else. As long as I'm not personally affected, there is no problem. I can see how having your grandchildren or children exposed to something you feel is wrong, at such and early and impressionable age, could cause a great deal of stress for you. The parent's wishes must be respected however, and it probably will not do you any good to force the issue if they are obviously not going to budge and believe strongly that their children should go to a faith-based school. The stronger your relationship with your kids and their kids, the better chance you have at influencing their beliefs and behavior, if that is your aim.

That is your opinion, just like a religion is the opinion of others. I grew up with an athiest for a father and the person he hated more than any other was Madeline Murrey O'Hara because she turned athiestism a religion.
I have my religion, but I live with an athiest. I respect her lack of religion & she respect mine.
I find your reaction more in line with Ms. O'Hara's than either my father's or my roommate's.

I can not speak for any theists, but I share your (interpreted) aggravation towards anyone who can not tolerate or accept other viewpoints. This includes atheists, and theists of all flavors. I prefer mutual respect among people with varied views.

I wish I had the answer. It would be nice to not have to worry about how someone will react if you're ever "outed" as a non-believer.

hi,friend, every body has their own stands and they try to stick on to that.Generally i say weak minded people, people with depending on others are strong believers of god.The atmosphere where they grow also influences in believing or not believing god.
I personally not believe god concept.

They believe.. that's why they are religious. When you place your faith in a higher power such as God and believe in the afterlife in heaven, you cannot believe otherwise. To tell a devout Christian (I am just using this religion as an example) that there is actually no Jesus and the whole religion is a sham, why, I think he/she will go mad on the spot.
