Is working abroad our only hope???

Philippines

The Philippines has been tagged as the most corrupt country in Asia and the Filipino people is dismayed to hear it, but it's a fact. A lot of Filipinos are losing hope that this country will ever prosper considering the thousands of crocs now holding the most important seats in the government and here they are again armed with the promises they never intend to fulfill as election time approaches. If there is no longer hope in this country, is going abroad our only hope? It's sad to note that our professionals are queuing up at agencies to get that most valuable employment abroad. And our nurses are desperately retaking the board exams just to be accepted in the US, is this something we should be happy about? or this remains to be our only hope to survive?

There are still investors coming from other countries here in our country. Whatever is happening in the government, just ignore it for a while and concentrate on your job. You do not need to go out of the Philippines. You just need to find yourself a good and big company to work with. And there, you will survive. If your not satisfied with your salary, again look for another company. A bigger one. Do your job extra ordinarily well be promoted. Then, you'll have a higher salary. It only costs a lot of patience to find a good job here. And fo a while, dont be affected on whats happening around. As much as possible, focus only on your job. But, still working in other countries is beter.

There is hope for the Philippines. The hope lies in its people, in the knowledge they have learned, in their capabilities and in their willingness to challenge themselves to be competitive. An educated nation will always have a future. While a country that constanly whines about the negative aspects of its nation will always falter. If the government and the fortunate and educated few can work together to educate those many who walk around the streets selling sampaguita flowers among other things, then these poor Filipino children can make a difference. Once they are well-educated this will attract more job opportunities and investments into the country. Thereby, improving the Philippine's economy and livelihood of its people. But if we abandon our country and continue to disgrace or back-bite about our country to fellow Filipinos and other foreigners, no good will come of it. I despise the kind of attitude that some Filipinos bear, wherein they forget their being a Filipino, as if to spit on their motherland. We have to give something back to our country and to the youth for the future of a better Philippines.

it's an option but it's not our only hope. i'm quite pessimistic about changing the mad political system we have right now but we just have to live the best way we can, be really concerned about our country and fellowmen in our own ways. it's sad to see such great talents flee the country they should be serving. i'm not going to be one of them. i do know people too who are really concerned about the country too and they still have their hopes up.

There is no hope in this country. I think the only way to change this country is civil war, and kill all those corrupt officials. Think again they all have the money to hide abroad. Im not a war freak or something but its a reality we can never change unless we anihilate those greedy bast**ds!!!!!!

well my opinion is you can have progress even if you are on a corrupt country..going abroad is just an option but not the only option..one thing i can suggest is if we really want to have progress in life we must change they way we're thinking..we must not blame to anyone our struggles in life..we must think out of the box..well im also a filipino,in my own opinion the main reason why filipinos are not getting is because they give emphasis on spending too much rather than saving for the future and learning on how to make their money work for them rather than working for money for the rest of their lives..

its not matter to feel good.Ita a serious situation you have to look into.Loooking for a job abroad isnt a bad idea but if everyone in your motherland starts thinking the same way then who from in your generation will take car oof your motherland your nation which has given you so much till date and its time for you people to repay it rather than running away rom situation and trying to build economy of someother nation and taking care of other people rather than of your own nation.personally i feel you people must b ashamed of this

Basing on what my friends are telling me nowadays, they just want to go abroad to get out of poverty. You can't get a good position in companies if you don't know anybody who can recommend you. Nepotism is rampant in the government offices. You got nowhere to go but to get the jobs that pays so low and not even enough for your daily needs. I really don't know how we can turn Philippines into another direction where people can still hope for a better life. Probably elect people that has no political ties and the only thing they can think of is how to serve the people and how to make the country better. But that is like finding a needle in the haystack.

It's a sad truth but I think going abroad is really the ONLY option if you want your life to prosper. I mean here the economy is really not good plus the cost of daily living is so high that what we are earning isn't enough especially if you have a family. Also the government that we have also sucks! Politicians are always full of empty promises and I have gotten tired of it that I'm not interested in voting anymore, besides I don't see any changes anyway.

For what purpose we have to work abroad? Just for earning money only. we are always earning money only. We have to enjoy 7 we have to use that money for the development of our nation &family otherwise there is no meaning in earning money. we can earn lot of money by working in abroad. At the same time we have to use that money for developing our nation. We can give life to lot of unemployed people by using that money. Work in abroad for a particular period & return to native place & use the money for developing many people.

you are right about the fact that people's primary purpose of going abroad is to earn money. and when they do have enough money, some come back home... a lot of former OFWs have returned home and many have started their own businesses which contributes to the employment and economy of the country. its an unending cycle really... to quote a famous old song "babalik at babalik ka rin"

Well, these are one of the items that I discuss with my friends and loved ones. Personally, there is always a way to improve and live a full life here in our beloved country. However, with the things that are happening, I don't know where we are going: TV and Movie Actors running for senatorial seats, politicians moving from party to party, and the never ending impeachment complaints fill our daily news. And since we're tagged as the most corrupt country, it's like our fate has been sealed. It would probably take a miracle to turn things around. Still, I keep on praying. Going abroad is an option, not hope.

Yes, it may not be the only hope but it's the best hope to survive. I have been to a lot of rallies and demonstrations for the cause of the common good. We are all crying for change, for reforms but there seems to be no hope anymore. For one,the country is corrupt. And,election is coming, the legitimacy and trustworthiness of the electoral process is questionable.

One thing about rallies, I have noticed that a lot if not all rallies are denouncing the US government and its interferences with nations like ours, but don't you think it's kinda ironic that while rallyists criticize the US, a lot of Filipinos want to work in the US?

It is funny that people from various countries are always putting down the USA but then they try to live in the USA. Heh heh I say that if people want to say such things they should back up their talk by NOT going there. It just makes them look bad. I think that people who realise that other countries may hold hope for their future or are better for them in some way. They should show respect for that country. I went to USA for years and I studied hard and it took a lot of effort, but I understood that it would giveme a chance at a better life and it did. I got great education and met so many different kinds of people and seen so many places. It really was a good thing and I will forever show respect for the people. The government there maybe in question but it is still far better than other places as you are not to worry about dictators or them sending people to your house to rape or kill you.

It all depends on how one looks at it and one's meaning of "hope". If a person is working in a good company in the Phil, he will not be thinking of working abroad. But if one has the right technical or professional knowledge to work abroad, it would be a good experience to try working abroad. Sometimes those who are somewhat "young" like me would sigh and say it's better to live abroad - at least there they don't have age limit in hiring people and even people of my age (don't ask!) could still enjoy being productive. As to those who are in govt, whoever is placed there, the people will always find fault with them - it's an unending cycle. Maybe it would be better during election that only those who pays taxes are the ones allowed to vote...anyway many others just vote to earn and not to think that's why we always have problems in the people who are are in govt positions.
