On my weekends, Sometimes I try to get to the movies or rent a movie to watch at home. I tell you the prices to go to the movie theaters now-a-days, I'd rather wait until it comes out on DVD..lol This weekend I watched the movie Norbit. I'm going to go into details as I know there are people like me who don't want to hear about what's in the movie, especially when you paying to see it. I will tell you that movie was soooo funny. Eddie Murphy at it's best. Interesting funny story line as ever... What was the last movie you watched? Did you enjoy it?

The last movie I went and saw was "I Think I Love my Wife". It was pretty funny. A great story, very real. The last movie I saw at all was "Howard the Duck". Pure '80's kitch. My fiance likes it, so he made me watch it. He's weird. It was cute, though. The best movie I've seen recently was "The Last Mimzy". Absolutely AMAZING!!. I suggest EVERYONE go and see it when it comes out this Friday. A close second was the new comic book adaptation "300". Stunning film. If you haven't seen it, then you need to. It is NOT your average sword and sandal movie.

Lol, when I read the words Howard the Duck the theme song started to play in my head! I think I've watched about 2 or 3 times in the past. I can't remember all the scenes, but I sure won't forget Howard... or the song, lol.

I tend to watch more movies on the weekends than anytime during the week. I just watched BORAT and I guess I didn't get it. It was offensive and not the slightest bit funny. I also watched The Departed which was excellent and the performances were amazing, just a little hard to follow with all the back stabbing, but that was the point. Syriana was a little dry, but really captured the sort of treachery that is a part of delaings in the oil business and the middle east in general. Stanger than Fiction, I expected to be better. I really like Emma Thompson and see really was kind of flat. I had no sympathy for her character and didn't really get any major emotional resonance form her. Dustin Hoffman and Tim Hulce were awesome and Wil Farrell was better than most of his other work. So all in all Borat -5,000,000 Stars, Departed 4 out of 5, Syriana 3 out of 5 and the same with Stranger than Fiction.

I just finished watching Blood Diamond and it was quite a movie..it really makes you think...Leonardo di Caprio is fabulous in it!!! Before that I watched Little Miss Sunshine...quite a contrast in films..opposite ends of the spectrum!!! I rarely go to theaters..my husband built a special room in our basement that has our big screen tv in it and that is pretty much our own theater...we enjoy the moveis with fabulous sound and no annoying people talking throughout the film!!!

The last movie I watched was Fried Green Tomatos. It's such a feel good movie and Kathy Bates makes me laugh! "well Ed, if I was going to kill you I'd use my bare hands". Ha.

I just recently watched "Fried Green Tomatoes" again. I had forgotten SO much of it that it was like watching it the first time. Anyway, my favorite scene is in the grocery store parking lot, when Kathy Bates repeatedly smashes into the car of the two young snots that beat her to the parking space. I love her come back line . . . "I may be older but, I have more insurance!" Love it! Ellen

The last movie I watched was 300. I enjoyed every bit of it, right down to all the rippling display of muscles, lol. I had some funny observations, too, and generally was quite surpised that I actually knew the actors, they looked so transformed with all the facial hair, costume, and makeup.

I don't go to the movies either because of the prices. I hardly ever rent them either nor buy them. I wait until they are off the new movie list before I will rent one. I see it as entertainment for me and not a necessary expense. Last week my daughter came in with a movie she had rented and wanted me to see it so I watched it on her money. I haven't seen Norbet yet, but when my daughter rents it, she might bring it out. lol

Yesterday, we brought our son to see The Reef. Went to see Babel last Wednesday ourselves. It was a good film, for a change. LAtely there are not many good films coming out. Over the last coupl of months, i cant remember how many i have walked out on half way through because they were so boring or dragged out.

My husband and I have been 'collecting' videos and dvds from Half Priced Books over the winter. Part of the game is to not spend more than $1 for videos or $3 for a dvd. We have watched as many as 5 in one day (winter storm) but, usually one on Saturday and one on Sunday is the routine. We have had a few duds but, for the most part, we have been very pleased with our choices. The last movie that we watched was "Immediate Family" with Glenn Close, James Woods, and Mary Stuart Masterson (one of her first roles?). It was a little predictable and sappy - a chick flick, no doubt. We enjoyed it. We have some things in common with the Close and Woods characters and ended up with some great discussion afterwards. We love Eddie Murphy too - can't wait to see Norbit! Ellen

You know what I found which is very good. To watch a movie together and then talk about it at the end. I watched the movie Crash with a friend and we ended up having a great discussion afterwards...
