What you think about Oprah's new school in Africa? Why did she start a school there and not in America? Why is the security in that school better than what we have in our schools?

This is the first I've heard of it. Maybe she was able to open a new school in African not the USA. Maybe it's her choice to open a school in Africa (obviously) not the USA. Maybe there is a greater need there than in the US. Maybe the security is better because she pays the bills. Why are you questioning this woman? She does an enormous amount of good. She obviously feels the tug of her roots very strongly sometimes. I don't watch her show regularly but I do catch bits from time to time and this is what I see.

I am very impressed with this school that Oprah has put together. I was just wondering what other people thought about it. A greater need.....hmmmm, now that would make some sense. I also don't watch her show regularly but I have caught some of the things that came on the news recently. Ok, we need someone who watches the show on a regular basis to respond and give us some insight. Is anyone out there??

I think what Oprah has done is great! She has helped America alot to with her Angel foundations and other services she provides and helping others. She has accomplished so much in her life from what she started out as.I think it is great that she wants to give those in Africa the same chance we as Americans have. Why does she have better security there then we have in our schools her in America? Well, because she pays for all that security out of her own money. The school that we have here has a security guard and they do random checks for things not allowed in the schools. Not the security that Oprah has but it works the schools budgets doesn't have enough money it says to have security guards in all schools unless the parents wanted to go all otgether and provide the security guards yearly pay.

I loved her Angel project. I thought that was incredible. I do not know why she has better security there but I sure wish we had it in our schools. It is a boarding type of school, sort of like a closed campus. The security is so tight the parents were complaining that it took them quite awhile to get through it to see their children.

I had not heard about this, But your right if she wants to help out some schools, we could surely use some assistance in beefing up the security here.

I personally think it's her money and she can do whatever she wants to do with it. I am happy for her and for them. If I had that much money I would do something meaningful too. I'm not familiar with a lot of things in Africa but we Americans are wasteful people. We have the money but we waste on things that we shouldn't. She is investing hers in children's future. Yes, she could have given it to the U.S. but would we be as grateful as those in Africa. No, I don't think we would. This kids are happy and eager to get an education. I am a recruiter for a university and I see kids that just want a hand out on a daily basis.

I like the question you pose...would we be as grateful??? I guess we should ask ourselves that question. I do love to see the pictures of the children because they are smiling so big.
