Fearing that dreaded call.

I fear the dreaded call. The one that makes your hear stop. The one that brings pain. I pray that you waken from the nightmare that you have chosen to live. Why have you chosen this path for yourself? Do you not see? Do you not care? I fear the dreaded call. I pray you stumble onto the path that leads you home. I miss you.

Oh ElusiveButterfly, I thought you were referring to me as when I left home many years ago and nobody knew where I was, if I was still alive or not and one day I turned around and started praying without realizing it I was heading home, my family were so happy to see me and opened their hearts to see me again as they never knew if at the time I was alive or what had happened to me and my parents really did miss me.

It is good that someone who has been on the other side of those mistakes can say to our friend "There is hope"

I have no children but I know this fear well. I don't wish it on my worst enemy. It's a fear I've always tried to block out but never have accomplished. And now as my yougest brother (20 yrs younger) is leaving home for the first time.. moving from ma to florida. That fear is just waiting in the foreground of my mind. He is 26 but really doesn't know anything about living on his own. He has such a temper and I think mental health or at least anger issues. I already am crying everyday wishing he would not do this. I just know he is headed for disaster and there is nothing that I can do about it but pray and hope.

He sounds like my twin sons. They have adult ADHD and tempers that go off without warning. I wish that was their only problems though. I pray that they find strength.

I am so sorry that you are going through this. You raise your kids the best you can and hope they turn out okay but then they take the wrong turns and you are left waiting for bad news. I have been there before too but its not as bad as it was before. I have an added fear, I have a police scanner and everytime I hear my son's road mentioned, I panic but so far its been ok. I will keep you in my thoughts. Hang in there.

I am glad that I don't have a scanner. I would hear mention of my children's names all too often.

I know how hard it can be to sit by and feel helpless as someone that you love destroys their life and themselves. It's a horrible feeling. All you can do is to pray and be there when they need you.

That is where I intend to be. When they fall, be there to pick them up. I just pray that they don't fall too hard.

Eluisve, I hear the fear and torment in the voice of this passage. I am sorry that you are having to endure the this. There is nothing I can do but send positive vibes your way and offer to pray for you should you desire for me to. Know that I stand beside you as a myLot friend. Ready to help if needed.

Thank you for the postive vibes. I do fear getting the dreaded call to tell me that one of my children is in the hospital or worse. It is one of the greatest fears I live with.

I know of a family member that recently had this very call. I have told my children of the call. It didn't seem to matter much to them.

Our children never stop being ours, even when they walk away. Because they are yours, I hope that some of the "you" in them will wake up, and walk upright. Prayers for you all.

Thank you GG. I pray that I have taught them some valuable lessons and that they will one day use this knowledge. Until then I can only pray.

Elusive you could have written this to talk about one of my kids in particular. I dream about that call. I have woken up in a sweat from that call. Please God it never happens. I hope everything settles down for you because I can relate.

It is so hard for parents to live with such knowledge that it can happen at any time and there is nothing we can do about it except pray for their safety and that they can change.

Is this about a lost child or missing person. I've been where you are now. It won't happen. You won't get the call. Everything will be ok.

Oh Elusive, I hope everything is okay with your loved ones. I'm assuming that what you wrote is specifically about someone that you are worried about. You're in my prayers.

Not just one, but three. I sit here and shake my head, breathe, and go on. What else can I do, but pray and hope.
