Would have a child missing or kidnapped. I think I couldn't sleep until he/she was found

sleep would be the furthest from my mind. I don't think I would be able to function at all if one of my children had been kidnapped. I had the "missing" experience once when my child was put on the wrong bus and over an hour later was found. That was the worst day of my life.

Yes although i don't have children i can see how terrible this can be, children are the most important thing in their parents lives and it would be a real nightmare if they were missing or kidnapped..

That is a truely scary thought. I wouldn't be able to eat or sleep and I would be out looking for them probably harder than anyone else

I'm afraid this is a rather difficult discussion for me to respond to as I have lived this nightmare on more than one occassion. Daughter ran away, gone 6 days - son didn't come home for 2 days - daughter in accident and in hospital for 8 days... All very emotional and sleepless days and nights.

I would assume the worst and really life wouldnt seem worth living at that point of time until the missing child is found.

I know that I couldn't even function until my child was found. I hear all the horror stories about children being abducted and I am always hoping that I don't hear one of my children's names in connection with it. I know that right before xmas last year, my teenager decided it was better to run away than to stay home. He was gone for more than 9 hours. I couldn't do anything except look for him. It drove me crazy. Thankfully he was found early the next morning but still it upset me to no end. I don't know how anyone can make it for days and weeks on end.

Having my child kidnapped is definitely my worst nightmare. That is why it seems like I got eyes at the back of my head just keeping an eye on her, especially in public places, such as playground , doing grocery, parking lot...even at home. I still have a monitor on her own bedroom with video on it so I can check how is she doing...even if we live on the 2nd floor of the apartment.

It sounds like unimaginable heartache. We see on the news the family members who are still searching for their loved ones for years and years. It would be like walking around with a fifty pound stone in your chest that didn't get any lighter with time. It must take incredible strength to survive.

I would be devastated if my son went missing or was kidnapped. I think thats why I am very overprotective of him when we are out and about town, at the malls or wherever. I am constantly looking around, making sure he is always near me, if not beside me, and make sure that I don't walk too far ahead of him. I don't know what I would do if that ever happened :(

I'm sure I wouldn't either - you're absolutely right about it being a parent's worst nightmare. I can hardly stand to THINK of anything bad happening to my little girl. :(

I would be dying a million deaths every hour and my mind with the potential dangers would be working double time and a half.I would imagine the unimagineable!I would pace and circle and run in every direction.I would sit and cry.I would stand outside and scream as loud as I could.I would curl in a ball and sob.I would stare off into space hoping that a sign would appear.I'd be afraid to sleep for fear he/she would call and I not hear.It is too overwhelming to contemplate. It hurts just to hear about it on the news or tv show. Oh I know! To me this is the worse thing there is in the world. I can't stand it that it happens. Yes, I think if it happens to someone, they couldn't sleep or baredly function.. even being a christian and having the Lord, how can you not fall apart? (But He would still be holding the broken pieces.)
