Well WOW!!! I am loving the show tonight so much more than the past couple of weeks!!! Tonight they had to pick songs from the British Invasion era. Their song choices were terrific and I found myself even liking SanJaya! how scary is that! He was like a whole different kid tonight. Out he comes looking great and singing his heart out to "You Really Got Me" He had some little girl in the audience "Idol crying" she was a mess over him. He even later went and gave her a hug and Ryan kinda gave her her 1 min of fame... she was very young but very cute. I would vote him through tonight for sure. Blakes beat box routine to an oldie but goody "Time of The Season" he stayed with the melody but added his little beat box sounds, not too much just enough to own it and make it his own. Not so much with a past favorite of mine Phil Stacey. I adore the person he is, but his "Tobacco Road" jsut didn't quite do it for me tonight. Haley was awfully sexy and her version of "Tell Him" was great. Good song choice for her. I just think they are finally getting down to business and we will continue to see them "Come out" and show who they really are. I am hard pressed to pick the top 4 tonight... What about you? Who were your top 4?

I agree Tuesday nights show was great. I think Sanjaya did a great job and it was sweet when he hugged the little girl. My favorite person on the show is Melinda. She always does a great job.

your right she sure does. I cannot imgaine her not winning at this stage of the game. However; I have also heard that she would be better suited for a Broadway stint? Like a Jennifer Hudson? Hmmm not a bad deal either huh? since Jennifer won an Oscar!

Top Four - Melinda, Lakisha, Jordin, and Blake. I too was more impressed with this week's show, but laughed over the song choices - not that they were particularly bad, but for so long the Idol producers have wanted to have Beatles songs, and when they finally get them, no one picks a Beatles song (or did I just not know one was from the Beatles?). I'd love to see Paul McCartney come and open up all the Beatles songs as well as his songs too.

I bet there is more of a chance we will see him on "Dancing with the Stars" cheering on his Ex-Wife. LOL I hear next week we have Gwen Steffani (sp) and they are going to do 90's music. Should be interesting.

OMG! We think so much alike, it's scary! LOL. When Sanjaya finished singing, I yelled out "OMG! Sanjaya has a VOICE!" He did so well this time. And that little girl was so darned cute too. I'm glad he went and gave her a hug. And then at the end of the show, she got to hug all the idols. How cool was that? Melinda was my absolute favorite this time. Lakisha did ok, but I liked Melinda better. As for Blake, I would vote him through any time! He is awesome in his talent. I actually liked Phil's performance...not as great as the original song, but he still made a pretty good effort.

The little crying "Tweener" as they call them is going to be more famous than any of the Idols! Good heavens it must be a slow news day if that is all they can talk about for the 10 PM news ???? Go figure.

Wow, Jackie, you are right on the money tonight. I must admit that Sanjaya pulled it off tonight. He was very good. You can bet all the little teeny boppers will be upping the bets on him tonight. Once again, my favorite was Melinda. She delivers time after time. Its anyone's guess as to who is going to be on the bottom this week, but it could well be Phil.

Maybe they will give him a break this week and jsut discount it to the not his style thing???? I can hope. But... Melinda like you say just delivers every week. "As Long as he needs me" is one of my favorite songs anyway and when she sang it I want to just go download it. She could market that one for sure. Thanks for the input as always- I appreciate your opinion.

Jackie, I couldn't agree more. I was really impressed with what all of the contestants performed last night. It's hard for me to guess who is going home tonight, but I would have to say it's probably going o he Phil Stacey. His was the only song of the night that didn't leave a lasting impression on me. By the way, check DIALIDOL.COM In the past, they have been pretty accurate in picking who is going to go home each week. It's strickly based on which phone lines (that you call in on) stay busy for the longest amount of time after the show. Oddly enough, Sanjayah (who gave a great performance last night compared to his previous ones) has been ranking about #3 out of the contestants nearly every week. Somebody out there really likes him.

The singers did do much better tonight. I think that is what we and the judges have been looking for in them and will be interesting to see what they sing next week. I still want Sanjaya to leave as he did do better but he is still the worst singer of all the ones remaining and most deserving to leave. A couple of them had not so good performances last night but have done well in the past and deserve another shot. Phil may end up going if it is not Sanjaya. I thought Jordan was great again. Haley was great as well as Melinda. I will be tuning in this evening for sure to see who gets booted.

I agree it is really getting good. Once thing that suprised me is Lulu she has somewhere along the line lost her Scottish accent. She comes from my hometown of Glasgow and now has this English accent but she has been around for a long time.

I agree! The guys really made a huge improvement, and I thought Sanjaya was decent as well! I have always been a Blake fan, so I'm rooting for him, but I was impressed with last night's show. My top four from last night would be Blake, Melinda, Jordin, and Chris Richardson. I was so impressed with their performances, although Gina, Lekisha, and Phil weren't all that great in my opinion. I think Gina and Phil might be in the bottom tonight, but we'll see. I am happy that Sanjaya has improved. I hope he keeps improving, because that kid does have talent...he just hasn't picked the right songs that show off his voice (until last night!).

My husband was working down at Westgate where the show took place and he said it was staged. I don't think he fully understands how BIG of an event it was.

I too LOVED idol last night. unfortunately, i conked out before i got to see chris sligh or melinda :( i was really looking forward to them, but i just couldn't keep my eyes OPEN!!! i, too, loved sanjaya! i have been willing america to just vote him off already! however, last night he showed a little more personality and i dug his performance. he reminded me of the lead singer (old lead singer) of INXS. haley rocked. i think she would do well to win. she showed she could rock a concert. blake was awesome as always. my top 4 would be : -haley -Blake -chris (is it richardson, or johnson?? something like that) -jordin (she rocked her song) i'm sure melinda was great, as usual, but i'm just not sure how well she'd do if she won. you know how taylor is kind of floundering out there, well, i wonder how well melinda or lakisha would do. i just think blake, jordin or haley would do well if they won. know what i mean??

Oh so, i think there's another vote that would added for Sanjaya this week.. OMG so, you think Sanjaya still make it this week? Ok alright, i didnt say anything bad about him. Never! LOL Actually Sanjaya can really sing, but for me there's still the best than him! For me, my top 4 could be... Melinda Doolittle, Chris Sligh, Letisha and Blake... They are all good!

My top four are Blake, Lakisha, Jordan and Melinda. (Even though I'd love to see Chris Sligh there, I don't think he'll make it after his last two performances.) SanJaya is weird to me. I know he's just a kid and this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. But honestly, I can't stand him and I don't know how he's made it this far. And last night, he scared me. LMAO.

Way to go Sanjaya and the others!! I was really impressed with tonight's Idols, and WTG all. If they continue to shine like this, it will be hard to choose who should leave each week. But for me, I was quite impressed with Jordin Sparks. In my eyes she was #1 tonight. Then I think it goes to Blake, and then Melinda and then Sanjaya. I would Love to have a single of him singing the song he just did. It was Awesome. Going home tonight, well, I think it will be Phil. I thought he was way better last week than this week, and I will actually be shocked if he makes it thru. But another one I think who will be on the Edge will be Gina. She just did not cut it for me. I guess tonights results will prove it all for us.

Has Melinda done anything contemporary? I'm trying to remember but I think all of her songs have been older tunes. Who is her audience? We all love her voice but would we buy her CDs?

Oh your right! I had forgotten that she was going to sit in this week? Hmmmm that should be very interesting. I am just alittle bummed out about the whole show this year. This SanJaya business just bugs the hell out of me. Why do people feel the need to buck the system? Why reward someone for being medicore at best. I am not saying he's a bad kid, he just isn't "THE AMERICAN IDOL"!!! I am going to go start another discussion on this I think I am so upset over it. But then I am old and pissy too LOL.

With Gwen Stefani coaching this week, looks like she'll have to do something upbeat and contemporary, no? We'll see soon enough.

Wow!! look what being given good music will do for fair to good singers. Love British Invasion music!!! Too bad when Simon's record label gets a hold of the top finishers he is going to give them absolutely garbage music to sing. Simon does not really care about talent he is just looking for someone he can turn into the next Britney or Justin and make money off of. His kind of music is not sung it is engineered in a studio and lip synched on stage.

I totally agree. Tonight was one of the best episodes of American I dol I have ever seen. I wasn't a huge fan of Melinda tonight, and I never really liked Phil and tonight was no different, and Stephanie wasn't all that great, either. But Lakisha was amazing and looked hot, Chris Sligh's performance was awesome, Blake totally owned his song, and Sanjaya actually deserved to be there for once. He totally owned the night in my opinion. I also liked Gina a lot, but I've kinda had a crush on her since her audition. LOL. But the real winner of the night was Ashley. The little girl in the audience that was in tears the whole night just made the show so much better. I loved Ashley! LOL.

i think sanjaya was "ayt" as what randy would always say. but he JUST has that swoon power over the teenyboppers. as an artist or american idol, he's not gonna work.
