Parents carefully organise this type of playgroup. A supervisor is selcgted to co-ordinate activiites and mediate problems should they occur. The supervisor handles problems of illness as well as special projects. All the parents discuss what activites should take place, in addition to matters of hygiene and safety, provision for snacks, toys and other materials, frequency of the playgroup meetings and transporation arrangements. A formal playgroup attemps to provide an atmsophere similar to the one children would encounter in a standard nursery school.
