I found this article about a pregnant woman that was abused verbally on an internet board/forum. below is a snippet of this article. I feel this is something we all have to take into consideration here when we respond to others discussions. read the whole article then tell us your thoughts/feelings about "internet bashing". Have you seen it happen at all? Have you personally been involved in it? Did you take any actions if you saw it or involved? What if anything can be done? There's a man in the article that started a company to repair damages to peoples reputations due to this kind of rudeness etc. Please read the article then respond. It's such a sad story. Thanks in advance also. "People post insults on here left and right," one person wrote Monday on the New York edition of Urbanbaby.com, a networking site for new mothers. "It seems the common word these posts have is Fat. Just because someone is overweight, fat, thick, whatever you call us, doesn't mean we are ugly, lazy or insecure. ... So stop the childish remarks." http://www.azstarnet.com/allheadlines/174579 HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!

That is just horrible. I think society is crumbling underneath us. The internet really has made people's morals a lot lower than they use to be. It drives me nuts how cruel people can be. They had no right to bash that lady like that and what was the point of bashing her anyways. I had a friend that kind of went through that same thing. She was a bigger lady and didn't realize she was pregnant until she was already six months along. I don't see anything wrong with that. I wish people would stop hurting people like that. Thanks for the article it really makes you realize how the internet badly affects today's generation.

I find it sort of funny that according to statistics the majority of the worlds population is overweight. Go figure. Thanks for the response also. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!

It is sad but thats just how people are. Some times I would give anything if some of these jerks was standing in front of me for a few moments. Just long enought for me to give them a nice punch to the face. People are increduably mean when it comes to the internet because they know that no matter what they say, no one will know it was them so they just say anything that they would like with out fear of consequence. Ugg, thats why I like animals better then i do most people.

I have been in internet chat rooms in the past and see "regulars" there insulting newcomers or picking on other regulars calling them thick, ugly, racist slurs, religious bashing and much much worse. I could never understand how people could behave like that, it all comes down to the equivalent of bullying except these are worse than real life bullies because they're anonymous and have the safety of a net connection possibly 1000s of miles away. People forget that the people they are slagging off are also people, have feelings and could be easily hurt and offended by this behaviour. To anyway who has done this sort of thing, my message is "GET A LIFE!!!" and to anyone who has been a victim of it my message it "Don't take it personally, these people are cowards, they wouldn't behave like that to your face in real life because you would be able to tell them to their face what sort of loser they really are!"

I feel bad for those that accept what others on the internet say as "gospel" and something to really get upset over. This thing turns off just as easily as it turns on.

I've never been involved in bashing people, but I've been on the other end of the spectrum, I've been the one getting bashed. It happened on a few sites I used to frequent, and it's happened on here before. It was a group of people once, insulting me because of a personal lifestyle choice and they thought it was entertaining to make a big joke out of it. Here, one member finds it entertaining to insult me, belittle, talk down, etc and I haven't seen anything happen because of it.

That just goes to show what our society is coming too. Seems morals and respect were thrown out the window ages ago.

What we see in other people are reflections of ourselves...this is what I beleive Grandpa Bob. If we are happy with ourselves, then we deal with others well too..and if we feel rotten, has issues and anger...we react that way too towards others. We don't honor others by judging them and we have no right to judge others. Though it is a reality that human as we are, we have the tendency to judge others, but it is also within our power to stop ourselves from voicing that judgment. Being rude and viscious towards a human being and intentionally hurting someone reflects that we have a lot of issues in ourselves. Those who hurt and bash others may have more need of healing than the one who was the object of bashing. The one bashed just need it's reputation repaired but the one who did the bashing needs to make his soul, self-image and even his life, whole and healed.

I look at mylot as my mirror to the friends and other members that I respond to their discussions. I don't think I've ever been rotten or rude here. If I have please set your foot down. I'm not like that in real life and don't want to be that here. Thanks for your response. It was very well put together. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!

I kind of felt bashed when I posted my discussion about male friend requests. All of the mylot members telling me that my husband was controlling and that I needed to get out. I felt really offended that people took my post the wrong way. I am sorry if it came out wrong. Trust and belive that if I thought my husband was controlling or abusive I would be out the door in a second. I would not put up with that kind of behavior. I feel sorry for this woman and hate to see people being do cruel. I agree that if they had to say these things in person they wouldn't. How many mylotters would go up to an abused woman they don't even know and tell her to leave her husband.

I have never this sort of internet bashing happen to me, I can see where bashing like this can tear down someones reputation, either in real life or online...I think its cruel, behind the screen sits a real live person with a life. Who are we or anyone else to judge them? To post that she would be a bad mother because she was overweight is outrageous, there is no one in there right mind sitting behind a computer that can give an opinion like that and have it contain any substantial facts...
