How has technology changed your life in the past 10 or 15 years?

Ok, I remember when there was no internet. When cell phones weren't all the rage. Ok, I even remember BEFORE CD's. Personal computers were slow slow slow and still rather expensive, and laptops were pretty much unheard of, and if there was one, it was big and ungainly. There were no flat panel anythings, and HD was a thing of someone's imagination. I remember all of this stuff being introduced. I remember thinking "what am I going to need that for?". And the internet. When I was 19, it was barely existent, no where near the "information highway" that it is now. Nothing had websites then. It was more a bunch of college students with nothing better to do than chat with one another. Debit cards didn't exist either. My first checking account when I turned 18, I was told "we have this new thing called a check card, you use it like a credit card". And if the store KNEW it was a check card, sometimes they wouldn't accept it for one reason or another. I didn't have a cell phone, or text messaging, while in high school. I walked over to the person I wanted to talk to, not two wayed them. I still don't have a cell phone, at least not an active one. We got a pay as you go one for while I was pg with my youngest, but we weren't using all of the minutes in the time frame, so we just let it expire. If we ever need it again, we'll just got get another card for it. I couldn't chat with others from around the country, and around the world, at least not like I do now. I remember getting my first email address. I was 21. When I was in high school, they had JUST gotten rid of the typewriters and begun to count "keyboarding" as computer class, because before it was done with typewriters. The year before I became a freshman, a computer class wasn't even required to graduate! How has all the technological advances in the past 10 or 15 years affected your life? There have been a lot of them.

u did have to put the 10 to 15 year timeframe on there didn't you. anyways cell phones is the biggest one. they still baffle me. i have a cell phone instead of a house phone, i still forget to take it places with me though. high speed internet made it so you didn't have to tie up your phone anymore by being online so people could still get ahold of you. video games don't drive me so crazy anymore because they don't just bleep or have a repetitive jingle....oh god i remember when zelda first came out and drove me insane with dh playing it...now video games have actual music and shooting noises and voice. now going back 20-25 years...remember microwaves, yea i remember them being a new craze...and remote controls for the tv...they were a luxery

I remember when remotes started to be really popular in the mid 80's. I also remember us NOT having a microwave because they were just too expensive. We also had a Commodore 64 computer because the guy my mom was dating let us use it. And it had TAPES of info, not even discs. Ok, I'm dating myself a bit here! hehe, though I think the internet and cell phones really changed all of our lives around.

Well I'm still a little young, but I do remember when VCRs and CD players were an absolute luxury in our household. And like today, I wonder what in the world would I do without my cellphone. I hardly ever leave home without it. I honestly don't know whether it a good thing or a bad thing that technology has come so far. Yes, we've made some great advances, but at the same time, I think we're lazier than ever!
