UP Date on the IRS Problem my son is having

I don't blame youat all. How can someone be so greedy and lie about a son that isn't thiers? I hope you win you and your husband have the rights.

That is good to hear have them call the taxpayer's advocate hotline as well just for back up. We had to use them once and we got a quick response and our issue was resolved in less than 24 hrs.

I read your first post, the letter that you posted, and I thought it was a shame that someone was using their son and taking away their benefits that they have rightfully earned from the IRS. It's also nice to hear that their congressman call and is able to help them with their case. It's nice to know sometimes that they have sympathy and empathy with the people who vote them into office. Hope that things turn around for you and your family!

Thank you for the update, this is good news, at least a step in the right direction. It will be interesting to find out who it is that's trying to claim the child. It's sad that it will involve time and delays in getting their refund but hopefully the person will be found out and punished.

I'm so glad things seem to be working out. That is so amazing that the congressman took the time to contact them and assign some one to help straighten everything out. I hope whoever the culprit is is punished to the fullest extent of the law.

WOW I'm so glad you guys got some results. I will keep him and his family in my prayers. My ex husband tried to steal my money by putting my social security on his return. he got caught but i called the IRS when i found out i owed several thousand knowing that i didn't owe because i was exempt those years made me wonder. They found the culprit and he ended up having to pay all that money back plus what he owed in the first place. LOL

Well, this is Great to hear. I am wishing you the Best in this situation, and know God is in control. This is going a little too far when people can start claiming other kids for no reason on their income tax refund. What happened to needing the proof? But this could be part of the problem now with being able to file online?

Counter-sueing might also be a good way to find out if the other party wrote the wrong Social Security number on their paperwork. Please continue to keep us updated on this issue.
