Artificial sweetener

How come artificial sweetener contains no calories? Does it good for health?

Some artificial sweetners are nothing but a bunch of chemicals without any calories your body can absorb and use. If your body can't use it for energy, it is said to have no calories. Others have "no" calories because they are SOOOOOO sweet (some of them are 200 - 600 times sweeter than sugar) that by the time you used enough to make up 1 calorie you could sweeten a swimming pool. So in a single serving they have "no" calories.

I just recently read that it is not good for you, due to the fact that it is artificial. The article spoke of sacrin which they say can cause cancer. Which is also the reason why they say that diet soda is just as bad as regular soda.
