I am curious as to whether most people get their jobs from unemployment agencies or through contacts. It's very high unemployment rate in Sweden right now so a lot of people go to other countries, for example Ireland and get work straight away. How did you get your current job? Was it easy for you?

I started temping with an Employment Agency just before x-mas, and at the second job/assignment i had with them after about a month i was asked if i wanted to be put forward for a post within the compnay, so i said yes, and am currently doing a temp to perm there. It was quite easy for me, but i'm only doing an admin job, i'm not sure if it was a case of being in the right place at the right time, and if it's any harder to get other types of jobs. I'm sure there's quite high unemployment in my town so i guess i was just lucky.

That's great for you. Congratulations for being in the right place at the right time, but I'm sure it's because you rock at what you do too.

I live in Canada. We have a low unemployment rate except in Newfoundland where all the fishermen are not able to work (no fish left!) but I got my job through applying online. This was 5 years ago. Most jobs I just applied for in the paper or online. I'v only had 2 jobs in the last 15 years.

Right now I am writing directly to places that I want to work on and it doesn't go very well.. they just don't reply. So I'm probably going to start looking online more.

I have to dig 23 years before moment, wheni was jobless but having ajoyous second son birth at that time and i was rushing between hospital and interviews! Any how the problem started critically when the new born was admited to child care hospital because of loose motion and other related complication. The cold of December 1984 was so penitrating... I still remember! And one morning i went to adjust with an auto rikshaw owner who needed a driver to run it for the whole day and pay him RS. 35 and above that what ever one can earn keep with himself! I agreed and decided to go for that work after completing last day from where I was relieved after contract ends! Meanwhile 2/3 interviews wwere given to diffeerent organizations as writer and translater s well as journalistic book writing. But i was busy with new born, hospitals and daily household things because my mom and my wife's mom were there to handle but they also need help! My elder son was just 2 and half year old! And the crisis was so immence new born was becoming critical and the doctor was not handling him with proper care and theni come to know that he is gold madalist and good but just started his own hospital! And wanted the stay of the patient more days! I was disturbed and angry also because what kind of attitude he has? and just took my son from the bed and went in to his cabin and said that i dont need your treatment because youare doing nothing otherwise after third week he shpuld be ok! He got the thing and tried to convinve me but i juist went back to my family doctor and asked him to treat and said if he will no more theni will believe that he was not born at all! And prayer started that its up to you no job and no situatoion isf avouring regarding new born so what ever you like you do i am accepting everything waht ever happen! Then realy miracle started next day was my first day as autorikshaw driver and if my new born would not be ok then... any kind of possibility was there... But his loose motion was stopped AFTRRONE TABLET GIVEN TO HIM! He went for a good sleep and in the evening I got a call from this institute where i am working till the date that i am selected and have to join tomorrow morning! So this way I got this job by grace and by all means tha i was under a shelter of HIM!

Wow, sounds like really bad times for you. I am impressed that you managed to stay focused during interviews when your mind must have been with your family. Interesting!
