It's coming up on Renaissance Faire time in my area. How many of you enjoy visiting the Faire, or participating as an actor or vendor? We worked last year vending my mother's natural skin care shop at a local faire and it was a lot of fun to be in that environment every weekend, dressed in period garb and meeting a lot of similarly minded people. Sadly, that Faire was very inexperienced and they fell apart in their first year. Now we'll be looking for somewhere else closeby to go, but the nearest faire is about 300 miles away.

I worked one here last year and it was a lot of fun. If they are able to get in on the acting end they will have a blast! Let me know if they decide to do it.

I love Ren Faires! We had a great one here at Slane Castle a few yers go but it didn't make much money so they decided not to repeat it. Have you ever heard of the one held at Blackpoint Forrest in California? It got moved on to the Nut Tree, and the Stafford Lake in Novato but I don't know if it is still going or not. That one was brilliant!

My first summer out of college, I worked as a Stage Manager for a Ren Faire in Pennsylvania. It was sort of miserable work. I lived on site with about 20 of the actors and a few of us had to go around the faire grounds for 2 weeks before opening to clean all the stages and pull props from storage. It was really hot that summer (except when it rained!) so I felt really bad for the actors who had to wear all that period clothing (I had to wear some, but it was lighter, since I had to do a lot of running around) We had multiple cases of heat stroke out at the human chess tournament, because they had to stand and fight eachother for like 45 minutes on this big board (wood) out in an open field. I had never been to a Ren Faire before I worked there, so it was a pretty eye-opening experience. I did have a lot of fun, but I can't say that I would ever want to do that job again.
