Well I do know that if you feed your pet wet food everyday they have a really good chance of getting gum rot and tooth decae. Also here in Canada just last week here in Ontario they had to pull a bunch of dog and cat food off the shelf because it was killing pets. The only thing I trust for my pets is hard foods like kibble.

As far as wet food, it is really best that you feed your cats wet cat food once a day to ensure that they are getting enough liquids. This is more important when they are older than younger as older cats do not drink as much and this is one of the reasons they have kidney problems. Regardless of the type of diet you feed your cat, you do have to monitor their dental health. You should have your cats cleaned at least once per year and give them things to help them maintain dental health. The recall they had this week could have just as easily been the dry food. Just happens that the rat poison laced wheat ended up in the wet food and not the dry.

You need to read the ingredients of all the cat food you feed your cats and make the decision yourself. If something has a lot of meat by-products, artificial anything and it seems like something you wouldn't eat yourself then don't feed it to your cats. Use common sense and do your research.
