i think bot are pretty effing bad, but frunk driving is worse. A person generally doesn't choose to get overly tired and then go drive. A person who drinks and then drives is makig a concious decision to do so. They KNOW they are endangering the lives of everyone out there. They KNOW what they are doing is illegal. Yet, they do it anyhow. A person who is just overly tired usually doesn't realize how dangerous they are.

I've driven while extremely sleepy on numerous occasions. It scares the living @#$% out of me. There comes a point when caffeine doesn't help, and endless interstate just makes you sleepier. But when you're tired, you can choose to pull off the road and get some shut-eye. When you're drunk, I imagine the idea of waiting til sober to drive never even enters the mind. Driving drunk is just plain stupid. Driving sleepy is sometimes a necessity, but it's much easier remedied.

In the studies I've seen the two are pretty close on the danger meter, but I think driving sleep wins out just barely. When you are drunk you have very little control and your judgement is shot. When you are driving really sleepy (or even asleep) your sub-conscience can still play part in trying to keep you from dying. Just my opinion.
