Clam Chowder Recipes

I am a clam chowder fiend, but I don't know how to even start making it. I'm afraid to try receipes I find online, because I haven't heard feedback about any of them. And, I'm really picky about my clam chowder. I'm tired of going to restaurants and being disappointed, or waiting until I go to a restaurant where I know I like the chowder to get it. None of my friends know how to cook clam chowder, so I can't get a recipe from a source I trust. I don't like my clam chowder to be very salty. And if there's more potatoes than clams, I feel it's a waste of a good chowder. That being said, does anybody have a recipe they'd recommend?

Sorrry, I don't have any recipes for that. My husband loves clam chowder, but I just open up a can of Campbell's and add some minced clams to it. You seem to know what you do like, so I am wondering where you ate clam chowder that you did like. Maybe you could ask for that recipe. The only other suggestion I have is to start experimenting. Collect some recipes and "fiddle" with them, recording the changes that you make. Then, when you finally hit on what you like, you'll have your own recipe. It may be one you can share or copyright and make money on! Good luck and good eating!

That Campbell's soup idea sounds good if I'm in a hurry or if I don't have time to try make some. And, thank you...I will start fiddling with recipes. I usually take a recommended recipe and change it a little here and there. I guess I could just pick one out, as well.

Mine of course. It is very good, and I may be a bit biased of course. But it is good. And of course, it can be modified to taste. But it is a good place to start for a very tasty batch of it.
